I stumbled across this amazing video showing photoshop addition of lifelike features on the only authenticated bust of Julius Caesar from his lifetime. The artist is combining a known image with contemporary descriptions and the result is absolutely stunning.

The same person (or group?) has a series of amazing reconstructions; sometimes done twice based on further information/corrections they have been given.

Here are a couple of my favourites.

Lucrezia Borgia

Tollund Man

Cleopatra

These are strangely beautiful and moving. And I've viewed less than half of them so far.

Guess they forgot to tell Bill Buckley.

Interesting. I wonder why they didn't go further with three dimensional interpretation? With all the computer graphic techniques out there today, I thought that's where it was going. Still, interesting images.
What if the Hokey Pokey really IS what it's all about? Smile

My neighbor rang my doorbell at 2:30 a.m. this morning, can you believe that, 2:30 a.m.!? Lucky for him I was still up playing my drums.

Eerily fascinating. The use of advanced technology to look at the past in a simple way.

I expected something to jump up and scream at any moment, but it was a pleasant surprise...
