Since this very section of the Café was Dennis' home zone, I feel that at least a link to the following thread was more than appropriate.
Do well, Dennis.

Wow! This is shocking news. We never met in person, but e-mailed quite a bit.
RIP Dennis. |

Both on his own website and in this forum, Dennis provided very thoughtful and useful comments and hints regarding the use of the memorized deck. He was always patient, kind, and thorough. He will be missed!

I'm missing Dennis already. So, to relive some of my fond Dennis Loomis memories, I attempted to go to his web site ( http://www.loomismagic.com ), and, unfortunately, was redirected to this site: http://loomismagic.com/?hg=0&nr=0 .
It seems that Dennis' wonderful site was allowed to lapse on April 1, 2013. That is unfortunate and I hope that someone with web site experience and whom Dennis' family knows and/or will trust will be able and allowed to start up the web site again...at least the "non-ordering merchandise" pages--particularly the memorized deck section. Regardless, Dennis' memory lives on and I look back in fondness at the many pleasant and productive times I had interacting with him via email and on the phone. Dennis was both a gentle man and a gentleman. RIP, Dennis.

The Loomis Memorized Deck Page still works:

I'm glad that this URL page and these articles are currently still available for use by the magic community. And, hopefully, for more than a brief time period. Mike P.S. Just to be safe, I just went onto the site and with a CTRL-A and then a CTRL-C and then a CTRL-V, I cut and pasted each of these articles into a single Word document. The formatting is all screwed up (and took 133 pages to cut and paste it all). Later, I'll go back and do a new document that will reduce the total document size down to a more manageable 25 (or so) pages. Now, if I ever lose my bound manuscript of these printed out articles, I'll at least have the ability to create a new set.

Denny was the one that recommended me to buy Arsonson 'Bound to Please' back in 2003. Changed my whole perspective of card magic from that day onwards...
You will be miss sir RIP |

Over the years I have valued Dennis' insightful comments and his unique perspective. I will miss his presence on the Café.
I remember feeling this kind of loss when Dick Christian passed away a couple of years ago. R.I.P. Dennis. His family and loved ones will be in my prayers. |

You meet friends when you least expect it. I had purchased Dennis’ Cups and Balls Routine, but never dreamed I would meet him. After my book was published, I received a phone from Dennis and he wanted to make a DVD of the book. How could I refuse? I flew out to California and Dennis, Joe Oliverio and I spent three days making a DVD. Although the DVD was only moderately successful, a friendship was born. Dennis and I corresponded via e-mail and telephone calls, but I never made it back out to California to visit.
Dennis was generous to a fault. He gave freely of his time, magic effects, and advice. He recommended a magic product I make to a magic dealer. I still receive orders for these items. I also purchased several tricks from him and when I had trouble understanding how to perform them, he graciously tutored me over the phone. He sent me silks, props, and videos to boost my career. Dennis and I shared a passion for the Aronson Stack and memorized deck effects. He let me make a contribution to the Memorized Deck section on his web site. He said he didn’t do a lot of sleight-of-hand magic, but he was far better than I. I learned the Kelly Card Control from him. His Micro-Chop cup routine was and is an outstanding effect. Dennis was professional magician, a musician, juggler, carpenter, cabinet maker and more. He also had a kind and gentle soul. I never heard Dennis say a derogatory word about anyone, even at a personal cost. As one magician said of Dennis, his mistress was magic and his love for that mistress was unfailing. Magic has lost a good man. I will miss him.
