I want to build one of the props shown on Alpha's Encyclopedia of Fire Magic DVD, and it requires gluing kevlar wick to steel.
What type of glue would be strongest? In the DVD he just says to use "fire proof glue", but I haven't been able to find anything suitable. If anyone has any suggestions that would be great! |

I have never used kevlar wick, I just use regular wick but I have glued it to all kinds of things including steel using contact cement. Paint a light coat on each surface and let it dry completely say half an hour. Paint on a thicker second coat amd let dry for 15-20 minutes and then press the the wick firmly onto the surface that you are adhering to. Let this dry and make sure that all the solvent has evaporated before you add your fluid

I have a special "patented" (not really, but I did invent it) method for securing any cloth type wick to steel without glues or adhesives. All that is needed is to wrap the wick around a specially prepared forged steel tip, then secured with steel wire if needed. I have held my own weight simply by hanging on cloth wrapped around the steel, nothing else.
