Hi!
Not sure if this is the right subforum, but here goes: What Magic Podcasts exists? I've really enjoyed Dodd Vickers "The Magic Newswire", but I guess that's retired? |

These are lean times for magic podcasts. One of the best, Go Magic Go, stopped abruptly years ago. The podcast Pepka used to do (can't remember the name) was also great, but it trailed off too. I believe that Dodd has said on occasion that work and family obligations have cut down the time he has for Spirit of Magic. Itricks is no longer regular. There's also Magic on the Side -- I never got into that one so I can't tell you if they are still regularly posting. There may be some others I've missed, but the time is ripe for someone to jump into the podcast field.

Scott Wells has a podcast in which he covers a variety of magic conventions and also interviews magicians who pass through his town while on lecture tours. His segments are often quite in depth and I think he does a good job with the program.
http://themagicwordpodcast.com It's too bad that some of the others have evaporated. From time to time new ones will spring up but often only for a few episodes. Sometimes also you can find magic covered on more mainstream podcasts. Check out The Nerdist. They did a long program with with Neil Patrick Harris, Derek Delgaudio, and Helder Guimares. They also have one that is a solo interview with Neil. http://www.nerdist.com/2013/02/nerdist-p......imaraes/ Also, here's an archive of radio broadcasts by Penn Jillette. The shows are not indexed at this location although I seem to recall that with a little searching I was able to find a list of guests for particular dates. Penn's conversations often veered away from magic, but they were intriguing and often did feature magic-related guests. http://archive.org/details/Penn_Radio_archive My sense is that producing podcasts is more labor intensive than it seems and that in the magic arena there isn't much potential for them to be profitable. So, they are usually labors of love produced by folks like Dodd and Scott, rather than programs supported by larger media companies. |

Forgot to mention Scott Welles as well as one other -- the 816 podcast. I believe those guys are still going.

The hiatus has ended. The MagicNewswire has allied with the Conjuring Arts Research Center with the goal being to have them all transcribed and searchable via text. I am working on several new episodes and hope to have one new one each month. I have also been in the process of fixing the dead links which appeared when I was forced to move the hosting service to a new provider. You can find more info on this in another thread here on the Café at: http://bit.ly/MNWisBack
Always feel free to reach out to me directly with any questions! |

Thanks Dodd! Great news! Excited to listen in with Armando Lucero.
Enjoy your and Scott's podcasts greatly. Not sure how feasible this is, but would love to have Michael Vincent. |

Hi Pepka -- funny to see a response pop up to such an old post of mine. I did enjoy the podcast when it was up and running. Hope you are well.
