What 1 or 2 books would you recommend I pick up to teach myself the basics of mentalism? I am more interested in something in print rather than digital.

Must have 13 steps by Corinda, any of Bob Cassidys books .

I would second the recommendation of "13 Steps". You can also get a companion set of DVD's that may be helpful to see how an effect is performed.

A very similar question asked here: worth a read. If you are new to magic as well as mentalism I suggest a different approach than 13 Steps.

If magic is also your thing, as well as mentalism, check out Magic Digest by George Anderson. The mentalism section is actually remarkably good, for all that it is only a small part of the whole. This is a terrific book.

Hey Sam,
I used to have a 20 min mentalism show that I performed on a regular basis back in College. It was a great hit in Cafés and student dorms! All the material used came from a set of DVD's. Richard Osterlind's Mind Mysteries. I strongly recommend it. Although it's no print, it's video taught and you have the performances as well. Good luck! Matty
