The granddaughter of Chairman Mao has been named on China's rich list, with a fortune of nearly £530 million.

If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.

From the article:

Quote:
The quotations in Chairman Mao's Little Red Book do not expressly condemn the accumulation of wealth.

You've got to love that.

I thought that this was interesting. too:

Quote:
Kong Dongmei, 41, is the granddaughter of the Great Helmsman's second wife, He Zhizhen, a sharp shot who was with him during the Long March.

Ms Kong was named by her grandfather, who took one character of his first name and combined it with "mei", the character for plum blossom.

"Mei" is not an unusual component of Chinese girls' names; often it represents the character for "beautiful." One famous example would be Soong Mei-ling, who was Chiang Kai-shek's wife. America is known as "Mei-Guo," or the "beautiful country." (In Japan, a homonymic character meaning "rice" is often used for America, instead.)

This shows that there are homonyms in Chinese, too.

Mao Xinyu is Ms Kong's half-brother; his grandmother Yang Kaihui was Chairman Mao's second wife.

Having two second wives is just plain greedy.
