Of how a free market enables people to solve problems:

Now the trucking industry, with its millions of 18-wheelers moving products like potato chips, underarm deodorant and copy paper around the country, is taking a leap forward in switching from petroleum to cleaner-burning natural gas. And if natural gas remains cheap, consumers may benefit again. |

Maybe it solves the problems of the CEO of UPS. It sure doesn't solve the problems of the people of Pennsylvania who have had their wells blow up due to fracking; nor does it solve the problems of the farm animals who have died from drinking the water contaminated by the fracking process. But the CEOs problems are so much more important to solve.

You are conflating "doesn't" and "didn't". BTW I have no idea what the current evidence basis is for water contamination from fracking. I'm mostly amused that the word just reached public consciousness in the past couple of years, as it's been going on for at least half a century.

From your source at the Blaze:
Quote:
In the contentious debate over fracking, the Duke team has shown a willingness to report both positive and negative studies. In 2011, Duke researchers found higher concentrations of methane gas near drilling sites in Pennsylvania, and state regulators denounced the findings even as environmental groups cheered them. So, according to your source, 1) there is indeed pollution from fracking; 2) the administration didn't deny that gas leaks have ruined well water, only that it is "safe when done properly." Oh, because we all know that human error never occurs, and that giant corporations never shortcut when it comes to safety and the public good, and that it would be foolish to take human nature into account when talking about the wellbeing of those who are not stockholders.
