So there I was thinking about your line regarding needing a "lighthouse", and I recalled a story told to me in my childhood near the shore, about a young girl who was fascinated by the seashore , and spent her days collecting "Sand dollars",{as you produce several sand dollars from nowhere, and place them into a small plastic childs bucket} placing them into her bucket, to give to her friends, the merfolk who live under the sea (it was their treasure lost ages ago you see) {produce a few more sand dollars}and how on long foggy nights, when all you can see is the flashing light from the lighthouse, and hear the haunting sound of the horn in the fog, you might hear a splash, where she made her final delivery of the treasure, for you see, sometimes there are Changelings from the mer folk too. {turn your bucket over into a clear bowl revealing water, a bit of sand and some sea grass with a little girls hair ribbon tied into it}
This is offered in a very brief form, recalling the masters words on brevity and all, but I hope it provides a jumping point-and I was looking for an excuse to buy that new plastic bucket device!

Kay,

That's a beautiful and affecting routine. I like it very much. The ribbon tied round the grass is a stunning closing image.

I wouldn't change the routine at all, as written. I like the rhythm of it, and its punchy brevity - it's this, I feel that helps to make the ending so powerful.

You've reminded me that, perhaps, we bizarrists should visit the sea more often in our stories. It has an timeless magic all of its own.

Many thanks for sharing.

Warm regards,

Caleb Strange.

Gosh guys, you will make me blush!
So today I went and made the waxes to have some pewter (silver look) and maybe a bronze (gold look) sand dollar made. The actual ones are a bit fragile, so I may end up making some out of one of the new plastics that are out there. I have already broken one doing the palming, so I feel that the ones I can get naturally need more strength! (Just got my gold look Dirham's made for my pocket equivoque! The silver gets done next week--golly I love this stuff!)
