I recently finished developing my sponge ball routine but my sponges are really worn out, out of the 4 that I originally bought I had to throw out 1, another one has a small hole in it and my third sponge has a small tear which I fear will get bigger if I put it to normal use. I can't find a place that has them for a good price, there are not any "brick and mortar" shops anywhere near where I live and the cheapest I can find them, with shipping, is $8 for 4 of them. Anybody know where I can get them cheap without ordering them in bulk? Oh and I prefer Goshman super soft sponges.

What if you can not find them cheap?! Wouldn't you want more than 4 if you wear them out?! Sorry for your situation. I hope you find the most reasonable deal among the top 5 online retailers. I can only surmise that you've had them for some time if you appear to be surprised by the market price of sponge ball including shipping. Reality checks can be a mother father.
Good luck...

"What if you can not find them cheap?!" Well, then I'll just have to wait a couple months and hopefully find a free shipping code.
"Wouldn't you want more than 4 if you wear them out?!" Yes, but at the moment I am very short on cash, I am only 15 and I can't drive yet so getting some kind of job is a little difficult. I can't afford the 50 pack for $35.
"I can only surmise that you've had them for some time if you appear to be surprised by the market price of sponge ball including shipping." I bought my sponge balls(my first set by the way) about a year ago at a "brick and mortar" shop in Myrtle Beach while on a vacation.

As a 15 yer old, as you say, money can be short. Since this board is for "Magician's Helping Magicians" I suggest someone (I don't have any) on the Café, should pm Roy, get his mailing address and gift him some sponge balls!

You can always do what many of us had to do in our youth, cut your own. I made my first set of sponge balls out of an old sponge and used them for a few years before I invested in my first set of Goshmans. You can also check out toy stores as they often have sponge balls as ammo for certain types of toy guns. Granted these are usually quite a bit firmer than your average sponge balls used in magic. But they do work.

You can occasionally luck out at a dollar store and find clown noses as well. Aside from the slit down the side, these are 2" sponge balls, not quite super soft but very close.

Pete, it makes me really happy to see someone like you genuinely helping an aspiring magician. So many times I see people merely trying to sell them something and 'claiming' to try and help them. Kudos to you Pete Smile

Roy, PM me your mailing address and I'll send you some sponge balls.

When I lectured at Kramien's Jamboree, I asked all 16 and under to raise their hands. I gave each of them my lecture notes free. I wish others would do the same.

Roy -- I pm'd you. Send me your address and I'll send you sponge balls.

Pete Biro -- you're a gem! You've always been helpful on here to me, and it's always appreciated. I was and still am grateful that you showed me (and everyone else for the asking) how to cut rope to be set up for Professor's Nightmare before I found Whit's Mongolian Pop Knot routine.

First, you have been shopping in the wrong places. Resort areas like Myrtle Beach are geared for the tourist buck.
Current spong prices are:
$3.40 for a set of 4 inch and a half
Supersoft bag of 50 is $35
---------------
2" box of 4 is $5.50
Bulk bag of 50 is $36
-------------------------------
Shipping is negligable but runs around $1.65 for 4
----------------------------------------------------
You can get a set of 4 Goshman supersoft 2" from me for $6 ppd. anytime.
Note: these are new, dye lot matched supersoft direct from Goshman to me (as used in my Diminishing Sponge Ball effect).
