I have uncovered a Don Wayne Floating Ball in new condition from the Copperfield era. For resale what might this be worth? Any info would be appreciated.

I don't really know if they are available, meaning a new manufactured product. I heard that Don Wayne "found" a batch in storage, and are filling requests if he is contacted. Abbott's is the only dealer I have seen advertise them.

So how many and if they are being made again, I do not know.

It is a great ball and worth the money if you use it. It can be done as a full stage set-up or as a one man self contained set-up, if you have the information available. Don Wayne only supplies a stage version and an David P. Abbott or Thurston hook up he calls one man version.

I paid around $80 second hand with no gimmicks only the papers that come with it back in 2009.

I got mine from Magic Inc in Chicago in the early 80's and also paid about $40. Rehearsed the heck out of it, got the lights just right, all the movements coordinated. Then during the show, my light tech was presetting the next scene and brought up the wrong light accidentally. You could hear the audience go "Awwwww" as they all saw clearly what was holding up the ball that moments ago was floating.

Doesn't Voyager come with a Don Wayne ball? You may want to contact Steven and Michael Pignataro, or Peter Loughran to see where they are getting them from. Just a thought.

I doubt that, as they originally sold for $45. That was very expensive back then. The current price is due to Abbott's yearly price increases. Abbott's originally brought them back on at $100, a few years ago. Then with increases it is now a lot more, the last I looked, they were $275 I think.

Just checked again, looks like they are sold out now, it is no longer listed on their website. Hopefully, Don Wayne has one or two left.

Yes I couldn't find them on the website either.
If possible, I would like to know the weight of the ball. You know, in fact I might be ending doing some DIY work and try to make one myself... good idea ?

If you call Don at the phone number listed , I am sure he will respond.
The largest part of his business these days is based on acting as a consultant for TV, Film and for individual performers who want Illusion design or coaching.
He doesn't run a retail product website, so you may have to ask him directly.

I never weighted the ball, but if I had to guess, was most likely 8 ounces to 16 ounces. 8 inches in diameter.

This is a trick that need hours and hours of rehearsal time.

Here is my review of "THE FLOATING BALL by LUIS DE MATOS", to bad as I already sold my Don Wayne Ball years ago before this DVD was released.
