It's been mentioned a number of times some of you have used Tenyo in paid performances.
PLEASE, tell us your story. Which ones, practice required, responses, venue?? We non-performers (un-performers?) would love to live vicariously through your tales. THANKS, Ed |

I was paid a few quid to do a kids show many moons ago and the Tenyo I performed was .. rope to silk, crystal cleaver, dynamic coins, silk serenade,Arcane oh and glass board [knock off version lol.] and the children loved the magic and could not figure any of the tricks out !! I actually did the crystal cleaver about 3 times and they were totally bamboozled by it, even the older kids! MM.

I just do tricks for friends and family. I showed Crystal Cleaver to some friends (in their 50s) and I absolutely slayed them with it!

Well... we are steering this thread off course a little so I apologize but I also am a hobbyist so I don't have paid performances. However theer are certain Tenyo tricks than I have an will perform as an actual effect, not just a toy to ammuse myself. I could easily see these being used in "real" performance situations...
The two most recent are Billscape and the Derby Prediction with horses (blanking on official name). Both read very much as cool magical effects... not toy-like or cheap in any way. I rencently was at my local magic shop discussing Tenyo with a magician there who does a lot of table hoping work He actually perfomrs Vanishing Point table to table. This surprised me because it seems difficult to perform in that setting but he showed me. He sets up a small collapable table next to each table for his set. He has a small close up case... we pulls vereything out and does a nice set right there... Vanishing Point looked great when he performed it and he says he gets great reactions. |

Way back when I did kids' shows I regularly used Tenyo's Crystal Tube and What's Next. Easy to perform, and very, very easy to stretch out with good patter and story lines.
They both packed light, played well with a lot of cheers, laughter, and frustrated screams...and show up well in larger venues.
Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.
