You gotta love Henry Evans. With that winning smile and magical disposition, it's easy to see how he wins the heart's of his audiences.
I sure like him. I haven't liked EVERYTHING he  has released, but many of his released effects are pretty charming. Which brings us to 3-D advertising. As many of you know, if you have read my past reviews, this is not the kind of effect I usually review, but in this case, I'm making an exception because this snazzy effect has a lot going for it. Here is the add copy: Effect A Magician showcases a catalog of different colored deck of cards. With a little shake of the catalog, a deck of cards falls from the catalog and is ready to be used by the magician. An innovative way to introduce a deck of cards for your next routine. That's it. Short, simple, sweet and to the point. As I said, "snazzy"!  The effect takes all of five seconds to perform, so it's excellent for an opener, especially in a parlour type environment. The point I really like about the effect is the learning  curve. In fact, there is none. I know you've heard it before, but this trick is so ultra simple that as soon as you set it up, you can perform it instantly. If you can catch a falling deck of cards, you can perform this! Honest! The effect depends on gravity, and simple flick of the wrist will cause the magic to happen. I'm telling you, this is as self working and automatic as it gets! When you open the package, you get a flat folded Bicycle box, which you must open and apply a dab of glue, stuff the box with a full deck, and you're ready to roll! The effect adds a splash of color to your show, as the prop is quite colorful. If I have any complaints it's that I can't find on the internet anywhere where you have the option of producing a blue deck. My gimmick is printed to produce a red deck only. I think it would be nice if we could choose either the red or the blue model. Also, one other thing: Above each photo of the decks is written Black Playing Cards, Green Playing Cards, Blue Playing Cards, and Red Playing Cards, respectively. Fine so far. But under each deck is written a few paragraphs in a language I don't understand, but appears to be latin! This is no problem from a distance of a couple feet, but it makes you think twice about handing out the brochure for examination, which would be a nice plus. But it's a minor complaint. Oh, and the angles. Sorry, guys. Angles are not ideal on this effect. But with this type of effect, it's the nature of the beast. Overall,  this really is an excellent product. The effect comes with a bare bones  instructional DVD. And I mean REALLY bare bones.  Henry explains how to perform the effect, and it's over and out. No frills. And I guess that's not bad, because of the simplicity of the effect. So overall, I like the effect. I think it's a quick snappy opener that you are going to easily find a place for especially in parlour venues. This one has the Daff seal of approval. I'll easily give it a 4 on a 5 star scale. **** Daff

Heya,
I'm thinking of purchasing this to use as an opener. Is it possible for this effect to be performing with a brand new deck, including the cellophane? Tony |

If you want to produce a "brand new" deck, then you have to use a wonder sealer first....
Here's a performance from Henry Evans and discussion about 3D Advertising with Dan Harlan Click here :wow: The 2nd Video shows an incredible follower, where he produces another 3 real Bicycle Decks (black, green, blue) from the "same" advertising.... Does anybody know where to get the "supplements" and "complete empty advertising" for this follower ? Magic Chris |

I know we arent allowed to go too into detail about the method of the product, but from your post I've read it as I would be able to produce a sealed deck so long as I could first get into the deck of cards and then put cellophane back around it? If so I would be able to work around that issue rather easily as I have a method for getting into decks of cards and resealing them.

He sells the original and the follow-up together as a "Deluxe" version -- price was $100 as I recall.

Thanks Trekdad for the "Deluxe" version info.
Until now, I couldn't find any magic shop who sells this.... Here's a performance of "3d advertising" from taiwan magician Lu Chen with a nice following performance of "Richard Sanders: Tagged" Lu Chen Performance I think that's the great advantage with 3d advertising: you're producing an absolut normal complete deck of cards, which make this a perfect opener, I wouldn't recommend to produce a sealed deck for this effect, because you want to quickly show and let the audiance prove that you've produced a real deck of cards. I would keep the use of sealed deck performances for special moments: Where you want to "prove", that this deck wasn't used before...effects with stacked cards or for an effect as "card to impossible location": Signed card to Sealed Deck for example. The reason I am trying to produce a deck of cards magically is that it is for a special perfomance, and they are wanting a quick opener (20-30 seconds), and I want the routine to have something a little different to catch them off guard. The plan is to produce a sealed deck, then perform RHM for the sealed deck (after removing ad cards and a few riffle shuffles).
I wouldnt be producing a sealed deck for a normal performance, if I was using a stack I would just put another seal on as the average laymen would probably count that as enough. Tony |

Hi there
I asked penguinmagic about this bonus version..... Penguinmagic, May 06 11:08: "Hi Chris Thanks for your email. We contacted Dan Harlan who replaied, "That 'bonus' is a version that Henry was thinking about selling. It does not come with the original... so it should probably be taken off the site description." Sorry for the misinformation Penguinmagic" Meantime I have found the new version here: New 3D Advertising The announced 100$ prize range from Trekdad for the Bonus version is "unfortunately" true.... Would also like to know the exact look of this three new decks (the decks on Henry performance on this magic page looks different than the 3 ones from the image of the catalogue page > as performed for Dan Harlan) |

I just got this and I really love it. It is just perfect for introducing a deck for a card trick. The deck is a real deck of cards that can be stack, gimmicked or pre-arranged. Just a quick, very visual trick. Handling is very easy. No sleights required.
