If I do cardmagic, I love to do it when it all or ending happend in de spectator hands. I don't feel the need to show my cardskills.
Of course I do some sleights and all the work. But I want give the spectator the feeling I don't do nothing. The reaction from the spectator is always strong! That's why I like the magic! I don't mean count and mentalism tricks (I don't like them at all!). 1. The Biddle trick --> My favorite by far!! 2. two card monte 3. card Transpo --> as ending from another trick. 4. Cards are my best friends (from Benetar) 5. Water and oil (doing by spectator, from Eric Jones) This cardtricks is not about showing my cardskills, but just magic happen in their hands. Of course with just a regular deck and at least not more than one additional card. But I prefer no extra cards! So I can do anywhere and with any deck. Can you help me and tell me some more tricks like this ones and from who? Thanks! |

Search and Destroy by Aaron Fisher springs to mind as an ideal example.
Its a sandwich effect where one spectator finds a 2nd spectator's selection using a pair that move through the pack eliminating cards until they find it. You only spread the cards a couple of times, the spectator does the rest of it themselves. His recent penguin lecture covers the effect, routining and a whole lot more. Dr Daley's last trick is another classic using just four of a kind. |

Some of the strongest and most practical card effects are effects that can be done in the spectators hands. My suggestion is to look over the classics and see how they can be modified to your performing requirements. You'll find many of them can be modified to your performing requirements. When I select an effect I always look for ones that require no table, can be done standing up with no angle problems. This has worked well for me and my repetoir is one that I can do under any conditions.

I agree with Stevie: You can't go wrong with Dr. Daley's Last Trick. Fabulous trick; fabulous audience responses. Here's a Bill Malone version of that:

Very interesting point of view, Steve!
A good one to think about it! And what you said is an idea: "midified to your own performing requirement". But I haven't seen so many strong cardtrics like the biddle trick. It's impress me much: the way of performing-so easy to do-the strong effect to the spectator. Everytime is it great to do it. So I'm looking for this kind of effects. (and if I have to learn special sleights, so be it! I don't care. ) I'm just addicted by seeing the disbelief in their eyes! |

I really like the 2 card monte. You know what it's like when you take a sip of what you think is beer, or ginger-ale and it turns out to be swiss crème soda? Your entire world bends in half. That's what the two card monte did to me when I saw it the first time.

With a little tweaking, many effects can end in the hands of a spectator, but one has to craft the narrative such that it seems that way. Sometimes enough suspense before a card is turned over creates the illusion that the cards is in their possession. You just have to play it right!

There's a version of Manhattan Opener available at vanishinginc.com for download that has the spectater doing about 95% of the work that's very strong and not hard to do.

I think the "two card monte" they are talking about is a version of the Eddie fector trick called...."be honest, what is it".... Or something along those lines. The two card monte presentation was popularized by Devin Blaine, who preformed it for emmitt smith, if I recall correctly.
Yes, I'm aware his name is not devin. Also "devin" doesn't produce the cards from his pocket like Eddie did, after the transformation. Keep in mind this effect is extremely similar to the Daley effect. |

Just a quick correction - this is on The Blue Crown, not Vanishing Inc.
It does need an extra card (obviously) but as frankvomit says, is very easy to do and the spectator does the heavy lifting! Quote: On 2013-06-06 09:25, frankvomit wrote:

Eddie Fechter's "Be Honest What Is It?" Is not the same as "The Last Trick of Dr Jacob Daley". Similar perhaps but not the same. With BHWII there are only two "known" cards in play, with TLTODJD there are usually four. David Williamson has a trick which feels like a combination of both which is called "The Memory Test" on his Magic Farm DVD.
