I watched the demo and thought NW or doing seconds: CLICK HERE
But it says no thumb/NW, or second deals. It says it includes an "Intuition System Sharpie" and gimmicks. But in the demo Steve puts the Sharpie on the table after he writes with it. |

When I first saw this a while back, I thought the method was a bit transparent. But I also thought this was true for me/us as educated observers, NOT as laypersons.
I liked this before and I still like it as something I think laypeople would find both fooling and entertaining. Zombie?

I thought this was new? I did a Café search in the tricks and latest sections and there was nothing there.
Going by the trailer, I think an audience would be entertained. I'm interested in it. |

It's also piqued my interest.

This angle from Mr. Fearson's ad appeals to me:
SPECTATOR ESP - Make the spectator into the mindreader. You write on the card and like an ESP test, the spectator is asked to guess what you've written. And they get it right every time!

This is definitely not new. The method is quite good, but also very limited at the same time. You also have to use the special cards, which could clearly lead to a possible explanation in the spectator's mind.

And I guess the question is not 'open' but a multiple choice...
I do not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death my right to say "scr*w you" if you persist. [Voltaire ]

All of the questions need to be between two answers. If it's more than that, you will have some fishy moments. It's a decent idea but I personally don't think it's worth $30 bucks. It is very easy to make up yourself with a few very simple items. You could do this with the card away from the deck as well, I'm not really sure why he doesn't. That would make it look much cleaner in my mind.

This item has been released before. If you know who Neil Tobin is then you know he released this exact product (sans cards) years ago. I just don't think that Steve has added anything worthwhile to this other than another routine for the gimmick. And that routine is weak at best.
Just offering my unsolicited opinion. Do what you want. But I know you will buy it anyway |

Yes, I bought this a couple of years ago. It is a nice little effect, but, as a stand alone piece, it would get quite boring, IMO.
It could serve you well as a lead into a bigger routine though.

Chad, thanks for thinking of me
Iain, just to clarify: Kenton did not create or release The Xpert. I contacted him when I was in the pre-release stage because I knew that in his publication, X, he explored similar territory; but as it turned out, he had not arrived at this exact solution—and heartily endorsed The Xpert (and even marketed it) when I released it in 2003. (As long as we're wallowing in history, here's the original 12-page Magic Café review thread: ) Fast-forward 10 years: I am finally filming The Xpert DVD—which at this point is apt to include over a half-dozen effects covering a shocking range of magical and mental plots including transposition, prediction, teleportation, mental influence, and psychokinesis—with the help of Paper Crane and Penguin. In fact, I fly there tomorrow! Best, Neil
