What did everyone think of the illusion on AGT last night? I thought it was great and I was really taken down the path....I thought it was going to be just another bad act and then it blew me away. I did not see and illusion coming!!

I thought it was very good. However, I question whether what we saw on TV was actually what you saw in the studio. Seems like he would have to "set up" before going into the levitation position. Perhaps this was thrown in just for the entertainment value and edited for TV?

I know there are lots of cut aways in the AGT show, but this illusion is very doable just as seen.

It was pretty much as what you saw in the studio.
His audition tape shows it without any cuts: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hab8VaL2xb8 He took a classic effect to the next level, great work! Please don't expose the workings as this is the public part of the Café! |

This is the first time in many years I have really been surprised and fooled at the "magicical moment" of an illusion. Does anyone know if he is a illusionist and this was just a beginning? Or is this his street gig piece? I would love to see more!!

That was easily my favorite act last night, and the best self levitation I have seen.

Being done before had nothing to do with my feeling of a great act and a wonderful "magical moment". It was in the context of the performance, and how this performer pulled of off. Never once was it signaled to me that this was a magic illusion. I think many of us who have been in the illusion business are jaded.
Last night I felt like most lay people do when they see great magic for the first time. That sense of "wow" what just happened?? Whoever you are, whether a magician or just a savy street performer thanks for that "sense of wonder"

He did the impossible and wow'ed them big time. He created a moment of real magic without any fancy boxes or hot girls. His only problem will be what to do next as he can never top this moment. |

I don't understand how he got on AGT. Where was the big pointless box and the scantily clad assistants. How dare he forgo the typical box of the month club presentations and do something interesting, unique and suprising (not to mention magical). He's just making the rest of us look bad with his minimalist props and character driven performance.

With all that being said the little girl who "waled" at the piano, will probably take the show or at least in the top few. She was the best young person I have seen on the show. Voice much past her age. Pretty amazing.

Watch his performance here:
http://www.nbc.com/americas-got-talent/ The is the greatest Illusion I have ever seen. Doug Henning and Andre Cole needed a chair and a 10 foot pole. This guy needed a cane, that is it. He stayed in character even after. NBC was so impressed thay featured only his performance at the top of the page on their website. Now, how can he top that? |

I do agree it was very fresh to something "out of the box" No pun intended....but let's not feel this way just about "box pushers" Everyone seems to be doing magic with cards these days. Coins also.. Rocco and a few other artists are pushing the envelope try to do what people perceive as "real magic"

This is a very old illusion the indian yogi Levitation. Here is another video of a street proformer doing this his own way.
I thought special head's version was much better as the set up looks very natural. I enjoyed how Judgmental everyone was. Then when he came off the ground he shut them right up! I especially love how the one guy jumps back in his seat screams then says f#@K like he just saw a ghost. Good job special head:) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QwdGoKPnSKI |

What I wanted to highlight in my message is that this guy's been performing this effect as street magic for a long time, many people has seen his performance in the street, but up to AGT nobody in the magic community talked about him |

Oh wait....we don't decide what is entertaining, the audience does The show has been on for enough seasons for any one with a quarter brain to know that the AGT caters to a specific type of magic. It's a shame that those who don't fit the mold remain jealous that the country still hasn't found a venue for them to become mainstream. If they weren't jealous we wouldn't have to hear about it ALL THE TIME! Season after season illusionists half to hear these nit wits talk about the box of the month club crap. When you are in front of 3000 people you need something the guy in the 50th row can connect with. It is a rare moment when the individual who complains about illusionists has an act let alone a single routine to fit that bill......oh yeah, and you have 90 seconds to pull it off. Special Head was good enough to do it.....that is why we see him on TV and not the complainers. This isn't directed at any one individual but written in defence of all box pushers and jumpers. May we continue to entertain crowds by the thousands, and listen to the complaints of those who entertain crowds by the tens. Ok, rant over. |
