Here's a lead in to macphail's 47th post: Are you asking about a mental-magic think-of-a-card, or a serious mentalism think-of-a-card?

I'd second 'A Card Merely Thought Of' by Baxter - I really enjoyed reading it as it gives background on the premise and some really interesting methods some of which seasoned card workers would be familiar with (although there are nice touches added which elevate them somewhat from the originals) but I had not paid much attention to until reading the book. It's worth a read just for inspiration and the pleasure of letting your mind wander into possibilities and variations.

I'd like to know if anyone can recommend some works on psychological f**ces (apart from Banacheks excellent books) but also any anagram systems that use a st***ed deck or the like to pump for the card?

Thank you. I'm intrigued with the effect of asking a spectator to think of a card and the magician revealing it. There are several techniques, most requiring the spectator to be shown a series of cards and asked to select, but the idea of having 52-53 choices is really astonishing, and I'm just wondering if anyone has worked on that effect (and can say something about it without revealing to much of the method.)

Although Dani DaOrtiz is a magician he has a lot of ideas in the field of psychology with direct application to mentalism. His book "Libertad de Expresión" (only in Spanish at the moment) worth the effort to read a magic book Smile (He is a friend of me, by the way).
