Harvey Rosenthal has a website with lots of videos demonstrating his sleights and effects. His hands are among the best I've ever seen. You won't believe the kind of card effects this man devises. The best part is that he seems to perform in slow motion, and you still don't see a thing and are left clueless. Go to his website at
http://www.harveyrosenthal.com and check it out for yourself. He has the best pass I've ever seen, called the square-up pass. He does it three times in row in slow motion. Its perfect. His routines rely on very difficult sleights, but he pulls them off like they are nothing. Trust me, you'll be impressed.

If you think there is no such thing as an invisible pass then check this guy's site out and you might change your mind.
I agree with you cardguy. This man is very impressive! |

I found Rosenthal's site a good few months ago and must have watched his square-up pass dozens of times hoping for enlightenment as to how he pulled it off.
The strange thing about that pass is that the card he's passing to the top is flipped face up in the centre. But it looks like you can see the top card of the deck throughout the pass. But, sure enough, when he removes his hand, there's the face-up card sitting quite comfortably on the top of the deck. His hands truly are incredible. Stephen :coolspot:

Hey Guys,
I'm sorry, but after struggling to stay awake during his Holy Miracle clip, I just couldn't bring myself to watch any more. His moves were great, but I think he should spend some of that time on speech lessons instead of practicing his pass. |

Oh, I know.
He is by no means the best of entertainers, but you've got to admire his skill. I, too, watched holy miracle and nearly fell asleep. Which is a shame because that could have been killer with the right presentation... :coolspot:

I don't care about how he presents his stuff, I watch him just for the sheer skill he has. He is the kind of magician that can entertain a room full of magicians all night just with his hands. When you watch him, just stare at his hands and concentrate really hard. Block everything else out. Burn his every movement. He'll still catch you, and your jaw will drop.

Greenshock:-
I just came across this post and would like to say that I performed harveys holy miracle for MAGICIANS at my local club and it blew everyone away. Dont be put off by harveys speech impediment (which by the way, may be due to a serious health problem that YOU may acquire later in life) and have a look at some of his other videos. you wont be disapointed as they are very skillful and exceptional. |

Harvey Rosenthal's square up pass is a killer. BUT, only from that angle. It is very smooth and everything, but in performance conditions, it's no better than other variations, believe me. That doesn't mean that Mr. Rosenthal's technique isn't great.
I believe a great number of you guys here are familiar with Peter Duffie's riffle pass, but I don't think you've heard of Zenneth Kok (http://www.geocities.com/zennethkok/). Check out his passes, especially the riffle pass. HZone

Yeesh! Am I the only one that thinks that picking S.W. Erdnase surname as a password was a cheap shot? It's not the common one that I've heard before. (I did get it though muahahaha). Me thinks that although passwords should be difficult choosing one where no one knows the answer for sure is pretty rough.

First, you need to understand the purpose of something when you watch it. For example, a documentary movie is meant to inform, not entertain, and you wouldn't go see "The Lord of the Rings" to write an historically accurate term paper for your history class.
Mr. Rosenthal is not (nor does he claim to be) a professional entertainer. Magic is his hobby. These videos are not designed to entertain you, they are designed to demonstrate the techniques. "knocking" him for not being entertaining on these clips is like being upset that your brand new motorcycle can't cook hamburgers! That's not the purpose for which it was designed. Further, criticizing someone for a speech impediment or other physical limitation is not only silly, it's rude, and I trust that will stop immediately. As to the merits of the clips themselves, they are uniformly excellent for their intended purpose--to demonstrate the moves. Mr. Rosenthal is exceptionally skilled and a great creator--get your hands on his close up sampler manuscripts if you can find them. Finally, lest someone suspect my motives, let me make it clear that I do not know nor have I ever met Harvey Rosenthal. I just think we need to critique a thing based on its merits and how successfully it accomplishes its intended purpose, not based on goals that weren't intended or the physical limitations of the performer.

Harvey has been employed with the FBI for many years and as far as I know is still with them.
Although he isn't a professional entertainer, he still has a passion for his craft and a driving sense of perfection that is not seen that often anymore. The most amazing thing about Harvey is that although he stands about 6'4" and has huge mitts, he can still manipulate small coins like pennies and his sleight of hand is very clean. When I used to work downtown in Washington DC, I would run into Harvey at Al's magic shop and he would perform some real nice coin magic or perform something that you get to see on his website. He did some real super smooth stuff.

His technique is amazing... and how he sounds is no matter, good is good, no matter how you slice it... I would rather watch Harvey do stuff than a million illusionists, just my opinion
And one more thing, I hate fast, flashy card workers, because you know they are fooling you with all their flashy misdirection... I like Harvey's slow calculating style... if a performer goes slow and doesn't do anything that looks like they are trying to misdirect you, and then they still blow one by you... well my friends, that is just amazing!!! Harvey is like a hurricane to me!

I bet many of us wish we could do passes that slow and with the spectators burning our hands totally fool them. The man simply is very skillfull to the ninth degree.
