The last time I met Vernon, he teached me his variation on an old cheating move, kindly saying "I know you will be able to use this". Vernon fooled Nate Leipzig with this. I don't have to tell you how much excited I was. This is my humble tribute to the Professor. Hope you will like it.

Yes, it was later described in Further Lost Inner Secrets by Stephen Minch (1989): "Given the Slip" p.75.

Very nice! I got to meet Vernon briefly in the late 70's. We were at a close-up contest at a TAOM convention in Austin, TX.
I remember one guy performed the Ambitious Card. I don't think he knew Vernon was in the audience. Robert |

It is nice, but the way of turning the cards is not totally natural, which I don't think it makes the move invisible for the cheating world.
I am not criticizing Sanvert, the move is what I don't like. |

I recall Mr Sadowitz showing something similar, also gleaned from Mr Vernon, on his Selected Card Secrets video. The angles are indeed very tight. Mr Sadowitz's chops are fairly ludicrous, and he makes it look as great as possible.
Watching M. Sanvert, with no patter or context, drew my attention, as a moderate card magician, to the tells. But if I watched Mr Sadowitz, or Mr Vernon for that matter, with the sound off, the result might be the same. I think this effect needs a human voice. Backfire Aces, also recently posted by M. Sanvert, could be done without words. It's just my opinion, which today is worth nothing. That's currency devaluation for you. |
