There are a lot of these posts and blogs out there...it's becoming quite the trend to discover these modern ruins. This one does have some cool images I haven't seen before. I love the Gulliver's Travels photo in Japan. That is creepy on so many levels.

Fairgrounds are really spooky places anyway but the sadness of deserted parks adds another dimension. What puzzles me is why they close....
Having spent my childhood holidaying in Blackpool with it's famous Pleasure Beach I am still haunted by the smell of hot grease, the ozone from the hefty motors, greasy doughnuts and sickly candy floss and best of all the novelty shops selling X Ray Glasses and soap that makes your face go black and of course the cheap magic tricks. I spent many summers fearing for my life while riding the Comet.
It was soooo rickety, eventually mom banned us from riding it. Lincoln Park was a stone's throw from my house... Oh, the memories! |
