I've actually spent quite a bit of time trying to understand people who aren't me, talking to people of various races about racism, taking classes that explore such issues, etc. And I do find claims about facing obstacles and issues "every day" very implausible. But that's not to suggest that I don't think that racism exists, or that I live in a little all-white town where we just speculate about people of color, with nothing from which to draw any valid inferences. All of this is with no offense taken, and none intended. Peace bro.

I'd have NO problem loving a girl that is black. My family might have a problem with it, but I don't care. I don't live my life to please them. To each his/her own. My Turkish girlfriend was as dark as any black person. She was WONDERFUL! Her name was Birsin. I'd better NOT have a problem with it, I'm married to her! Oddly enough, the only grief I got was from black guys who wanted to know why I took her away from them! Quote:
It's sad we even are talking about this. I've said this before. One day I will remind everyone. When the REAL ET's reveal themselves, it won't matter what color your skin is. Or what country you come from or your lifestyle. We will ALL be just HUMAN then. Regardless of what you have heard, this planet is unique. Frederick Pohl had a take on that called "The Day AFTER The Day The Martians Came" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Day_Aft......ans_Came Quote: We are a special breed. Our genetics have been altered and tweaked for thousands of years! And, think about this seriously. No jokes. Have you ever wondered WHY we have FIVE distinct races of human? All I know is she said she only used the word once. I bet she uses it a lot more now.
But jokes aside it is good to see that reprehensible behavior properly dealt with.

This story has gone viral. It would be wonderful if it was used to educate that using disgusting slurs in humor is unacceptable by anyone ( not just those with millions of dollars in endorsements to lose ).

I have hope as well. Watch how fast Al and I agree here.
My hope is they replace her with someone who looks a lot more like Giada. My understanding is she can cook though I wouldn't swear to it.

Paula has that "X" factor, coupled with the gift of gab. They don't come along very often. That was an amazing empire she built, just based on her personality.
Not being wealthy, I can't understand how wealthy people think. She was a millionaire, wanting for nothing, but felt "partnering" with a pharmaceutical company to peddle a diabetes drug was good thinking. She hid her diagnose from the public for 3 years...until making the deal. She needed that much more money? Of course I also don't understand "Rock-star" Chefs. George Carlin was right: as a species, we're circling the drain! But the oddest part of this entire Dean story is Paula's theory on it all: "There's someone evil out there that saw what I worked for and wanted it". It reminds me of this Lady's theory when things went wrong: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EwtkorQKGFE |

This thread should not be about racism. It should be about dear Paula who went from an 8 digit income to a 5 digit income by sticking her foot into her giant mouth. If you look up "dumb as a bag of door knobs" in the dictionary you will see a picture of dear Paula there.
Danny I think they should replace Paula with someone who has a little more common sense.

Hi guys!
Just so ya know, I have not watched TV since 2008. Never seen "Ancient Aliens", so...not sure what to make of that. "Almost infinite"...LOL! Poor choice of words, there! I had to laugh at that. Again, our differences don't matter in the big picture. My point was, if we cannot accept a member of the HUMAN race, because of PHYSICAL differences, HOW could we EVER accept someone (from somewhere else) who is REALLY different? Humans have a long way to go... Doug |

Doug then you need to stay off the internet. You are quite impressionable.
Al I hope they set the bar hogher than that lol! And Doug what do you mean humans have a long way to go? Seriously why make sweeping judgements based on the actions of the worst of us? THAT is racist against humans. You choose to loom at the actio s of a few and pai t the whole race as bad. As I said you are qjite impressionable.

A quote from one of my favorite businessmen:
Quote:
Warren Buffet said: I got his quote from this article: http://www.fool.com/investing/general/20......buf.aspx It's tough...all it takes is just one little tiny mistake and you can be ruined in business. Just one little tiny mistake. It almost seems like their is no room for any kind of error sometimes, not even the smallest error. And it seems so easy for anybody to make those tiny little mistakes. Personally, I think Paula has been punished enough, but it's also a lesson for Paula as well. But we all make mistakes and I think it's important to remember that. Paula Deen is also a product of her society as well down South which has an ugly history and legacy. But again, I think she has been punished enough and that she has probably learned a hard lesson from this.

Look in 3 years.
She will be back with apologies and then all will be forgotten. Sad because some of her biggest crimes are against food and entertainment.

Put yourself in the place of a spiritually and technologically superior being. Then look at humanity. Russia, China, North Korea, The Middle East. Mistrust, human rights issues...on and on. The threat of war. Nuclear war. Whether actual or imaginary. Just the talk of N. Korea hitting us with a nuke! Danny, you're a great guy! I have a lot of respect for you. It's OK if you think I'm impressionable, or think I live in a fantasy land! It's all good! I just skim the news every day. I don't surf the net for "aliens and UFO's". LOL! I have much better things to do. I do get info. Not from the 'net, though. Doug |

I came across this article this morning for those interested in another perspective on the Deen complaints. It's written by an attorney who looked at it in detail and made his own assessment:

All his punishment for something they said 30 yrs ago....for all of the companies that have written her off, I'd go on a crusade and find any and all associates of each CEO and PR executive and find out some politically incorrect words they've used in the past and let them scramble and beg for mercy. A good dose of they're own medicine is what's needed IMO.

Paula went from 8 figures to 5 figures over night, and in ten years she might be back to 6 figures again. Her ship has sailed.
