Unless I have missed it, the US has nothing like Britain's MagicWeek, which each week highlights magic-themed shows on TV, various live performances, lecture tours, etc. etc. If you're looking for something magical in the UK, you need look no farther. Check it out on http://www.magicweek.co.uk

This week's edition announces the opening of Derren Brown's new show in London tonight (June 24), describes several other upcoming live performances during the week(including one in Trafalgar Sq.), and is full of lots of other useful information. Admittedly America is a bigger place to cover, but perhaps at least the major cities. . . . Do you suppose there's an entrepreneur out there who can figure this out?

Doesn't the S.A.M. have a National Houdini week/month every October?

Magic clubs I have belonged to (and still do) have used the last week of October, leading up to Halloween, as National Magic Week. It's usually good for promotional use, and often gets us TV and radio spots.

Slight de-rail: How do we get National Magic Week an official declared thang in the US? Somebody start a thread and lets get it going. The last week in October is a perfect build-up for the public's end of year magic awareness...(4 holidays and all)....

Back to the subject at hand....

The Governor and/or legislature of Michigan has officially declared "Magic Week" before- I believe several years ago or even it may have been last year when Greg Bordner of Abbott's and Rick Fisher of FAB were at our State Capitol for a special ceremony. So Yes- there is already "Magic Week" in Michigan- and this year it may be Magic Weeks(?) since so much is being planned here during the upcoming summer months.

Nothing would get done at all, if man waited so long that no one could find fault with it.

Perhaps Magicweek.co.uk itself should branch out to the US?
