The best Ortiz routines using a mem deck, IMO, are:

Best of the Best (Lessons in Card Mastery)
Zen Master (Scams and Fantasies)
Double Tap (Lessons)

Billion Dollar Brain (Lessons)

I like Test Your Luck and Last Laugh as well, but I think Michael Close's "Luckiest Cards in Las Vegas" puts almost the same ideas into a full routine (though I like how Ortiz implements his estimation technique).

For Best of the Best, any ideas for an alternative ending, instead of a centre deal?

I don't do the center deal. I just go straight into Best of the Best 2. I consider them one routine both together.

Excellent idea, is the farro necessary for Best of the Best 2? Why not just do false riffle shuffles?

You need a faro, yes. The idea is to make the shuffle very open, show them the cards are physically mixed, and even let them push the cards together. Additionally, in the first phase of Best of the Best 2, you tell the spectator his named card's position (the card from Best of the Best 1). If you only used false shuffles, that position would not change, which would be super suspicious.

At page 277 in the great book Lessons in card mastery you can learn a great routine called Sorcerers Apprentice. Try it, I think yo will like it.
