This is an interesting look at some classic superpowers from the point of view of physics. The videos are produced by TED-Ed, an offshoot of the people who do the TED Talks videos.

We had a super hero in our neighborhood. His name was SUPERfluous. Turns out nobody really needed him.

Super speed, because as The Flash has demonstrated, that allows you to time travel.

Super Speed- Opps, my sonic booms killed the people I was trying to save.
Super Strength- Still not bullet proof.
Invisibility- Pervert.
Flight- Useless without another power. Also, death by jet engine intake.
Immortality- Great, until I manage to lose a few limbs or get trapped in a block of concrete. Or humanity goes extinct or the sun dies and I'm still around, forever, in the vacuum of space.
Body mass- I just broke a hole in the street and fell through into the subway tunnel, stepped on the third rail, and got hit by the oncoming train.

And-
Wolverine claws- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HAdzS5n-W1o
Professor X telepathy- I had a nightmare and caused heart attacks in half the city.
Omnipotence- God-man never has any free time.

Now that I think about it, I'm pretty glad I'm not a superhero.

Body mass - if that makes you invulnerable to bullets, knives, etc... You might not have the strength to win a fight against 8 angry red-necks, but you wouldn't lose either, and none of them would want to try and punch you after the first time. That would be my #1 choice...as long as I could have surgery if I ever needed it.

Next choice would be...

Invisibility - but really, only if the clothes I would be wearing at the time would be invisible, too. It would be a bummer to have to go someplace where I wanted to be invisible, only to have to ditch my clothes, and then put them on again. Or if I needed to get to a place while being invisible, it would be a drag if it were real cold outside.

Super strength would be great, but it would have to be combined with body mass to have a decent combination. I mean, if you go into a situation where you need to use super strength, you kind of need the protection that body mass would offer.
My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".

Actually, I had a dream once where I made a wish to always know the right thing to do. Shortly afterwards (in the dream) I discovered I had become a superhero- performing emergency open heart surgery because I just instantly knew how to do it, entering the right building to disarm a hidden bomb (because I knew where it was, and which wire to cut), knowing to duck now to avoid a gunshot, etc. And instead of trying to decide between one of two ex-girlfriends vying for my affection, I knew to dump both of them.

It was really pretty cool.

My version of Prof. X mind control powers enable me to control mine too.

So no worries there. Smile

Considering the fact that I can already read mind, predict the future, bend metal, change the weather, manipulate the elements, vanish stars & much more, I think asking for another superpower would be greedy!

Cheers,
Art.

The USA is not real?

Flying I think, I guess I have always wanted to fly.
