My insurance company and the agencies around here do not cover entertainers' insurance. Does anyone know where to get it? I live in Massachusetts.

Advice is appreciated.

We currently have insurance through the I.B.M. , but I believe that S.A.M. , and Kidabra offer it as well.

We are actually looking at changing ours this summer though when our current insurance is up for renewal.

Since we now have a Wedding DJ and Event Production side of our business as well as magic, we are going to join and go through N.A.M.E. (National Association of Mobile Entertainers), because they will insure us for both the magic and the DJ side of our business and we will no longer have to carry two insurances as we do currently with I.B.M. and the American Disc Jockey Association.

Thanks, Nanci. Do you recommend not using an outside agency like Stratum Ins. -- I just found them on the web,and they look good and have A+ BBB rating. About how expensive is the insurance through I.B.M.?

Thanks for your help!

I get my liability insurance from the IJA. It's a far better policy, but you have to be a juggler to qualify. It's totally on line with Willis E-insurance.

Duane, here is a link to the insurance company that offers liability insurance to IBM members. Scroll about 1/2 way down to see them listed. If you have a copy of The Linking Ring, you'll find their ad in each issue. If not, just call or email them at the number listed and you can get more info.

I really do not know about all of the other options out there. I am sure there are many great options depending on what type of coverage you need. I only mentioned I.B.M. because it is currently what we have, and N.A,M.E. because it is what we are planning to change over to. I am sure with a little research you will find what best fits your needs. Good Luck! Smile

I have used both Specialty (formerly Clowns of the USA) and N.A.M.E. Specialty dropped my specific type of insurance after reducing coverage and raising pricing. They seem okay for general or novelty acts, although I've never had to file a claim with either of these companies. To me that's the true determination of how good they are, yet hopefully you'll never have to find out.

I use Specialty and have for the past 5 or so years. I have only been asked once for an additional insured certificate, and they got it to me in less than 24 hours, without asking for any kind of rush. They are affordable and easy to work with.

I use the insurance through the IBM. They are competitively priced provided you are able to go August to August. They also provide additional insurance, when requested very quickly. They price the yearly insurance based upon a range of your gross, so it takes into account roughly how active you are.

The best I have seen by far is the new policy put ou the S.A.M. It really is amazing and better then any I have seen.
