No. If you draw a straight line around the earth is it a circle?
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.

I would assume not at all difficult with any9ne with average intelligence. But would also like to ask. What score was considered passing?

Saw this. Several of the questions technically have more than one "correct" answer, which would let the person administering it say, "Sorry, that wasn't the answer we were looking for." Even if you could pass the test, if they didn't want you voting, you'd fail.

Quote: You had to get 100% correct. And you had ten minutes to take the test. Those questions are intentionally designed to be confusing, rather than a valid test of your literacy skills. On 2013-07-03 10:09, acesover wrote:

Here's an example of the scoring: Quote: As you can see, on the 1964(?), test the questions were deliberately designed to be tricky and confusing. For example, Question 20 reads: "Spell backwards, forwards." Answers by whites would be judged correct no matter what they wrote. But Blacks who wrote both words but forgot to include the comma would be failed, or if they included the comma they would be failed for that, or if they just wrote "backwards" they would be failed for not including the word "forwards." Or if they wrote "backwards" instead of sdrawkcab they'd be failed for that and the same for vice-versa.

Not to poke fun at you Aces, but I did find this sentence to be quite ironic: "I would assume not at all difficult with any9ne with average intelligence."
Obviously just a finger slip typo, but it did make it funny considering it's a literacy test

Of course the literacy tests posed no problems for illiterate whites. They either weren't required to take it or were given a pass by the completely subjective grading.

Just to add here. While it is not that long ago. It is still let us say 50 years ago or a half century ago. Many things have changed since then. It is over. Just as many say here, "Obama won get over it" Practice what you preach and get over it.

Aces- not quite so sure. This particular test has been floating around since the Supreme Court overturned part of the Voter's Rights Act two weeks back, as an example of why the VRA was needed in the first place.
Of course, Congress could always re-evaluate the data and pass legislation defining a new map... if they could manage to agree on anything- which they're currently having a difficult time doing regardless of the issue.
