Today I received the sad news that the world of magic lost one of its most creative members. We knew him as Magic Ian, Ian Garrison and Ian Sutz. Ian passed away about 4 pm today, July 4th. He had had open heart surgery over a week ago. He was in Florida.

Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.

I will miss my magical friend and his entertaining creativity and performances.

Ian was a close friend of mine, my mentor and an icon in magic. He hosted my police magic website, made the dvd's of my con game, carnival game fraud and police magic and helped me put my books on Lulu.com.

His wife, Lyn, contacted me yesterday to tell me. I am still in shock. I enjoyed staying at his guest house when I visited there in Bushnell. He took me to his magic club meetings and we had a blast doing magic. He is shown in both my police magic dvd and con game dvd.

I will miss him.

He was a good friend, a confidant, and a mentor to me. I'll miss his late night email messages, and his vast magic wisdom. He was a young man.

I had the pleasure of meeting Ian several times at our Ring 170 meetings. He did a lecture on ropes for us just a couple of months ago; he was quite ill at the time but pressed on and did a great job. He was a very nice guy, a terrific thinker, and a solid inventor. He will be missed.

I only spoke to him on a few occasions but those few times indicated a good man with a kind heart. I was sad to hear the news earlier today.

Rest In Peace, Ian.

Ian stayed ay my home when in Knoxville for several days. Lot's of fun magic, and meals cooked together and his chatting Dad. Though we have chatted many times since he always asks about Dad first off.

Somewhere in that is the secret to his creativity.

We have all lost a friend.

Just learned of this via e-mail this morning. A great shock to me, as, I was working on one of his Steel Ball & Tube Wands just last night. When Ian told me he was having heart surgery, he also said it was "low-risk", and we just expected a lengthy recovery. He was planning things right on through to the other side of the operation. Magic has lost another Wizard. My sincere condolences to his family and many friends.

A very saddened...Michael

I just heard this. Ian is sadly missed already. I have his Dancing with Ropes and more recently his Ring and Springs DVD and props. Ian was always quick with excellent advice and always took the time to help me with my rope magic.

RIP Ian.
