Hi there, I'm just wondering if you guys had any recommendations for UK magic dealers. I'm a Mentalism Newbie and am looking for a dealer who stocks a lot of books. Thanks!

Hello,

for a lot of books in UK, look at
http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages......ndex.htm

With Corinda, Waters and Annemann, there are many good authors in the mental field... for instance Phantini (Gene Grant) and Anderson...

Best

For affordable prices on all magic and mentalism books, and good, helpful and well-informed services, Keith Bennett is an excellent UK supplier. His prices for US imports are usually no more than you would pay in the US. (Unfortunately, UK retailers of *all* kinds of specialist books from the US tend to charge a lot more than you would pay for the same book in the US). Keith has a shop in Birmingham which is open to visitors about two days a week (and which I haven't actually visited). His website, off the top of my head, is http://www.kbmagic.co.uk

Magic Books by Post in Bristol carry pretty much everything available in mentalism books including all the old Supreme titles that sell for high prices on ebay. Get them here at the old prices. They also have some Al Mann titles in stock.

Can't say that I'd recommend Keith Bennett hugely. I know everyone says he’s a smashing guy and a real magic enthusiast (and cheaper than some possibly), but he’s not always a terribly efficient chap when it actually comes to dealing. Long delays are not uncommon.

I’d be more inclined to recommend http://www.alakazam.co.uk Also very knowledgeable, with a very wide range, good pricing and somewhat more efficient.

Cheers,

Matthew Blackwell

PS: I'm with the rest on Magic Books By Post. Marvellous.

Black Hart Artefacts in the UK has a book called The Big Black Book. Keith Hart has outdone himself with this huge book. It should be on every performers bookshelf.

... and although he is apparently too modest to mention it himself, Paul Hallas is probably the most mentalism-savvy dealer in the UK, so he deserves your business.

Davenports in London have some of the original Annemann booklets most of which is not in Practical Mental Magic.. You'll have to ask for them as they do not have them listed or on view... Juan Tamariz has a great philophecy.. instead of going into a shop and asking for what is new he would ask what is old as there are some brilliant old works that rot in stock rooms. Alakazam is also very good and Mr Nardi who owns it is very nice and will do all he can to get what you want..

Thanks very much for the advice guys...i'll check out them all out after my exams... Smile

Magic books by post seems great as does kbmagic in terms of the range of items they offer. alakazam seems to be more rounded and I might try if for tricks rather than books.

I had a look at the black hart website about the book but i think i'm still too much of a newbie for it. Smile

Also that's an interesting point of view tamariz has...but i guess that's why i want to start reading the basic mentalism texts first. Thanks for the advice...Mr. Spelmann

Lastly Mr Hallas i tried to view your website from one of the links on the other threads but it didn't work. Would it be possible to obtain a catalogue from you?

There is no faster UK online magic store than http://www.magictricks.co.uk
I ordered a video and book at 2:00pm on Friday. At 4:00pm they emailed me to say my order had been dispatched. I got it Staurday Morning - and that was no surprise! And the p&p was free as I'd spent over £20.

I also like to use Magic Books by Post. They have a huge amount of books and are pretty speedy too.

Others I like are:
http://www.alakazam.com
http://magictrickshop.co.uk
http://www.magicbox.uk.com/ - although their online store doesn't work that well.

Nice of Doug to mention my modesty. And I do deserve your business, before I starve lol.

I think with over 950 posts to my credit, it is pretty obvious I didn't come onto the cafe simply to push my wares!

My web site host problem has still not been resolved unfortunately. Despite promises to the contrary:( I may now be off line even longer as I am now considering severing all ties with these people that have been paid but not delivered.

Anyway, these are reduced prices for cafe members until my birthday on June 25th or earlier if stock runs out. Please note, it is not worth sending to the UK from the USA for books which are obtainable in your own country because of the postage costs involved, all these titles except the first ARE available in the USA. However if you want to buy any of my packet tricks that's not so bad postage wise and most are not sold over there, they are not mass produced in the thousands!

These prices are postpaid in the UK until June 25th only. (I am lecturing on that day in Rochester, Kent if anyone is in that area.)

Mindful Mentalism (vol.1) £10
Dunninger's Brainbuster's £22
My Way To Mentalism by Binarelli £24
Between Two Minds Two £9
The Craig Karges Connection £11
8 King Set up for The Mentalist by Blaisdell £4
Phantini's Mental Key £9

The last three are old manuscipts from Lee Jacobs productions and whilst not second hand I wouldn't say they were in pristine condition, Lee has had them in stock over 20 years.

Also found the other day I still had 2 copies left of Al Mann's "The T'Kares Set". If anyone wants one of these £10 post paid!
These are originals not photocopies of his mauscripts as keep appearing on E-bay.In fact if I put these there I'd probably get more than they are worth, this IS a cheap price (I always thought they were overpriced anyway). Own a GENUINE Al Mann manuscript, a piece of mentalism history Smile

Good observation Paul, but then I don't get mentioned much either, lol.

Could be in this thread that he doesn't sell books and the initial query was regarding books. Which is why I first mentioned Magic Books By Post rather than myself.

But yes, Roy Roth manufactured the FIRST magnetic locking switch pad and still sells it at a reasonable price, a nice switch clipboard also, most of the wallet stuff though is of the larger wallets not favoured by our US friends and non jacket wearing hobbyists.

I can also wholeheartedly endorse http://www.magictricks.co.uk - they even sorted out a problem video I ordered within the day. Their service is never less than totally courteous.

Hmmm, I must create a few problems so I can instantly sort them out! Smile. Any decent dealer would do the same Bomber.

Another point in favor of http://www.magictricks.co.uk - they reply promptly at each e-mail and are very courteous.
Once I bought a broken video (it was badly recorded - so not their fault) and they refunded me immediately. Great service.
