Yes, that was great. I've always love sway pole acts. But I don't believe anything will surpass Nik Wallenda's feat - at least not in our lifetimes.

I know it sounds ungenerous, because after all what the guy did was amazing, but I was thinking the same, comparing him to Wallenda. In comparison, it just doesn't seem that dangerous. Crazy scary, yes, and requiring great strength, but not that dangerous. He always had something solid to grab onto and it doesn't look like losing his balance is an issue in this stunt.

As I type from my cushy armchair, struggling to maintain my upright position.

When did I compare him to Wallenda?

I mentioned David Blaine. Smile

You didn't. But it will be really next to impossible to talk about "danger" acts anymore without an inevitable comparison to Wallenda.

I was comparing him to Blaine as both did pole stunts. Same height of poles even.

Imho, skydiving is the most dangerous of these 'dangerous' stunts.

But that's just me. Smile

Skydiving without a parachute is the most dangerous of all. And that's what the Wallendas have flirted with, and occasionally tragically succumbed to, over the last century. (Why do you suppose they were called "The Flying Wallendas?" Smile)

Actually, there's a basis for what I wrote:

Quote:
It was at a performance in Akron, Ohio, that the group all fell off the wire, but were unhurt. The next day, a reporter who witnessed the accident was quoted in the newspaper: "The Wallendas fell so gracefully that it seemed as if they were flying" – thus coining the name "The Flying Wallendas".
