Hi Guys, not sure whether this is the right place to post this discussion.

I am thinking of setting up a Magician's Pub here in Singapore.

Let me ask all of you here, if you were to hang out at one of these places, what will you be looking for?

Some thoughts of mine:

a) A small stage for inexperience magicians to perform.(But should also have scheduled performance by experienced magicians)
b) A small little magic shop within the pub
c) Very comfortable and "magical" environment
d) Magic performance videos on TV screens
e) Waiters/tress should be able to perform a trick or two to customers
f) Items like close up mats, cards etc can be easily made available for magicians visiting the pub.
g) Of course, there must be music.
h) The pub can have rooms for magic clubs to meet up as well!

Of course, besides a place for magicians to hang out, the pub must also be able to attract the public as well!

Any thoughts? Smile

Sounds great except that "inexperience " magicians must attain certain standard before performing for layman. This is to protect the secret of magic. I hope you can work this out so that I have a magical place to hang out. Smile

I agree, it sounds like a great idea.
But don't forget the PRIMARY reason that people go in to such a place: The booze and the food.
That's your profit center and you should focus strongly on that.

Thanks for all the input.
Bernard thanks!

Any other ideas?
I agree the F&B part is important. Smile

Hi Jimmy,

This is a great idea, but I wouldn't have the wait staff performing anything but food and booze productions. Holding a tray of food and trying to palm coins or cards is a good recipe for disaster.

Yes, you are right and have a good point.
Perhaps they can perform a trick or two while taking orders! Ha Ha!

The idea of all this is to make the place different from the rest of the pub.

I just think that there aren't many here at The Cafe from Singapore.
However, if this pub were in London that would be a different story...
:bg:

It really is an excellent idea though, Jimmy.

Well, thanks for the confidence.

I am actually looking for ideas and things you would like to see in a magic pub. You do not have to be from Singapore.

So what is this going to be like, a pub where magicians can gather and share in relative security, or a place for lay persons to gather and experience magic?

It almost sounds like you are planning on a Magic Castle type place in Singapore. Maybe next time I visit Indo I'll plan a side trip.

Sounds a good idea Jimmy, what about old magic posters on the walls?

Good luck with the project.

By the way, did you get those tricks I sent you?

Best wishes,
Paul.
