My partner and I are making steps to move forward with our idea and business cards and a FB page were a good place to start.

Michael Eaton did a great job designing doing doing the profile/cover for my FB page.

I'll be doing a video review of his services, he makes fantastic business cards!

If being your facebook fan is good enough for the godfather it is good enough for me too.

Not being into the Facebook scene, I'm just curious as to what is so special about this page? Is it the photo/header? Having a pro create this perhaps I was expecting something more. This seems like something you could have just created yourself. What am I missing?

Or was this posting more about just getting members here to like your page?

I was excited to have the Facebook fan page up and running while, Mike did a great job. I'm going to add live performances and photos real soon.
I suppose it isn't much compared to what full time professionals have on their slate, but it's a good start Smile

If there are Facebook business strategies for a newbie, feel free to add, very much new to this game and am getting gigs under my belt.

Facebook is kinda like a visual resume based on time, and this facebook page has absolutely no content to it yet. I think that if you compare to a facebook fan page that has had a lot of entries (like mine) you will see the difference.

The action shots are great and I love the mix of performance and reaction photos on the page.

Al, I must say I'm jealous. I would sooo love to be able to do a show out of a Mini-cooper! Also you've now got me thinking about the swankness of sporting a tophat.

Very nice.

Thank you. My car will carry me, my show, my PA system, one large suitcase, and a skinny woman.

The hat, suspenders, and baggy pants kinda tells people I'm a juggler.

One suggestion I would make is that somewhere in your about section, it should have something about where (city, state, worldwide) you perform. Right now, other than seeing that you had a gig in Olympia, WA, I wouldn't know where you are available to work.

Al - I don't know what a "good" page should look like, but I thought your page looked very good with all the interactive shots.

If you have your location in your title it will serve you well on a google search too. My fan page is a work in process.
Thanks

Facebook serves as social proof but it also can be used as a fan page, especially for kid performers where their excitement extends beyond the performance and they want to visually follow you and attend future public performances. It really works well for me during the summer months, when I have many public shows at libraries, festivals, fairs and mall performances. I try to post an entry immediately after my show. I also let the audience know that they can go to our Facebook site from our website. Recently, I have been making a much bigger effort to leverage Facebook as it really helps to build momentum for my business.

As Al mentioned, it is like a resume, so if you have big gaps in entries, or only a few entries, it could actually serve to weaken your image. I am always a bit surprised to see some Facebook pages with few entries, or major time gaps. I think you are better off not using Facebook if you are not willing to invest in keeping it up to date.
