1964. I'm a cheap bastar... wait no... I just don't want to hunt down the older stuff.
oh oh oh ... and I win the Thickness contest. 4 64's is 5 walkers is SIX barbers. keeeeeeding. idrk. In all seriousness HypnoJeff... It "really is" personal choice. If you have access to all the types, try them out. If you don't, you could use poker chips or WASHERS from holmes depot as far as entertaining your audience is concerned. If you DO use those old coins, please talk about the history of them, as it seems lost on the youth of today. |

I like barbers because you can buy half quarter and dime and do a routine where the coins are getting smaller

My thoughts - people are not familiar with the older coins. I decided that althought walkers are very pretty, they are very different than coins that people are more used to. Big face on the front, and eagle on the back. First I used silver Kennnedys, but didn't think they were exotic enough. I then used Franklins, as they seemed similar to kennedys but older and more interesting. I liked those, as they were different, not too old, but I wanted to use coins that were soft (frictionless). Walkers just looked too different, so I settled on Barbers. I have been very happy with them. Its really a personal choice, As memtioned Barbers are thinner, which could be important for concealing several in your hand.

Doesn’t mean they aren't hard to find David. Most magic shops - online and off - have gaffs for several denominations of coins, but virtually none have them in Barber halves.

Really? Schoolcraft has had them on his site but anytime I looked in the past three years he had none. Kueppers doesn’t list them at all.
So if Todd is the only source of Barber gaffs I would say that they are not easy to find. You can say whatever... Jim BTW, I finally have my full complement of Barber gaffs, so I'm not looking. Just commenting that it is certainly valid to say that they aren't easy to find. |

Well if they are out of them.
You certainly can send them to the galfer to have the custom work done.A little extra work but worth it if someone really wants them. I have personaly sent more to have work done than using their own stock myself. Todd |

I might just have to get the Walking Liberty also. Schoolcraft dean sets turn out so beautiful. I'm very pleased with my Morgan set.
