It's due to be released this month, and I believe the deluxe version, which comes with a keyfob for to-person coding (and, I believe, a seriously magnetic poker chip), will be about about the £200 mark.

How does it compare to SS 2.5 Jon?
thanks Sean |

Also, you can place the detector in other places about your body, a confederate can use it, or it can go in another object. The receiver thumps north and south, but there's also LED output. This means that you can place the receiver somewhere convenient and see what's going on. There's also the keyfob that transmits a total of seven codes for some very nuanced communication, and it comes with some strongly magnetic material. So, to be honest, I can't really compare it with the SS 2.5 other than on price. |

That's about the same price as the SS. I had been thinking of upgrading to the SS2.5, but I will very likely wait for this release, instead. I've always loved the receiver being separate from the transmitter, and now that it's wireless, so many new ideas are popping into head, already! Time to start raiding the couches for lost money!

Bad news...FMT has gone out of business, so no new products, and no warranty on existing products.
http://www.the1914.com/store/products/fmt-3/ Here is the notice if the link no longer works. June 2014 NOTICE OF FMT-3 DISCONTINUATION It is with regret, THE 1914 is discontinuing The FMT-3 System. The reason, out of our control, is outlined in detail below. THE REASON In 2013, THE 1914 entered into an agreement with SUBVERSIVE CIRCUITS (hereinafter, the Manufacturer) to become the exclusive distributor of the Manufacturer's electronic, expandable series of devices for magicians: the FMT-3 SYSTEM (hereinafter, the System). The System's initial release was called the Deluxe System with the intended use of covertly detecting the location and polarity of a magnet hidden from view. The intention was to later expand the System’s capabilities by releasing add-on products that communicated with the pre-existing electronic receiver (hereinafter, Future Modules) contained in the Deluxe System. To honour this agreement, THE 1914 was to market the System; this included producing video content, photography, artwork, packaging, promotions, and securing the System’s worldwide distribution. To honour this agreement, the Manufacturer was to build the required quantity of the System and further develop and build the required quantities of expandable electronic Future Modules. In February 2014, THE 1914 received official notice from the Manufacturer stating they had closed the company, citing financial difficulties as the reason. WHAT THIS MEANS 1. The System will no longer be offered for sale in any form through THE 1914. 2. There will be no Future Modules. 3. As the Manufacturer no longer exists, nor does the one year Manufacturer's warranty. EXISTING UNITS THE 1914 would like to stress that existing Systems are still usable, functioning products for the purpose of magnet detection and were priced competitively against rival magnet detectors on the market at the time. However, there will be no Future Modules being released that are triggered by different stimuli as previously hoped and advertised, due to the closure of the Manufacturer. Yours with regret, THE 1914 www.the1914.com |
