Hi folks,
I just came back from a business trip where I got to meet a magic shop owner who spilled the rumour on me that the entire Tarbell course might soon be coming out on CD-ROM, much like the Jinx or the Phoenix which can be bought now on CD-R. How cool would that be! Has anyone else heard about this? True, false, dunno? |

It's already out. Check http://www.lybrary.com
It's the original correspondence course, not the series of books published later. |

The CD-Rom is apparently very good, but they are nowhere near the 8 volume set. Every magician should have them in their library.

Tarbell on CD was my first ebook in Magic. I found out, that I like real book a lot more than CDs. So be careful before buying.
The good thing is that you can have the "electronic Tarbell" with you everywhere. I for example have copied the course on my Laptop and have taken it with me to London. Ha, do THIS with 8 fat books!!! Magixx

I agree that I like books better than CD's but I love the search feature. I got the book and graduate course on CD. I'm more than pleased with the purchase.

When it comes down to it, I prefer the CD to the books. The books only have 1.5 volumes more than the CD, and it's a pain to find anything in the books. In addition, the CDs are arranged in Dr Tarbell's original teaching order, which I think is superior for learning. And of course, it's so simple to take it ALL with me during my frequent travels.
As RikBrooks indicated, http://www.lybrary.com's CD also includes the invaluable graduate course. For 1/8th the cost of the hardback books, this is an incredible bargain. *jeep! --Chet

I haven't gotten the CD version, but I couldn't do without my 8-vol set. There is a very complete index in volume 7, so I've never had a problem finding what I was looking for.

I bought the cd and then after realising that I prefer the books, went to get the 8 vol...
althou the feature in the cd allows you to jump straight to particular tricks, but its extremely tiring to be staring at the monitor reading every single word. usually I print them out so I figured I might as well jus order the books I also realied that the books have more material then the cd, not to mention it does look nice to place it in a bookshelf Tarbell course has tons of material be it cigarettes, cards, coins, etc. IMHO a definitely must have for magicians. cheerios
Think outside the box, cos people are all thinking inside now!! - ClouDsss

Well, I would suggest the following:
First, buy the CD. The money is well spend, because you can start with working with the Tarbell Course. Even if you decide to buy the books, you can always carry the data on the CD or on your computer with you. Then, decide whether you need the books. Buy one after the other, or try to make a bargain by buying them all altogether. Magixx

Hmm I guess printers aren't very popular around here. I print the course in sections and put them them into a notebook as I read them.
