Asking on an internet forum for the best induction is not your best starting point.

The best induction is the induction that works for you. More than that a scripted formal induction can be useless in a lot of situations, it is better to have a full "toolbelt" of hypnotic techniques and an understanding that the subjects will tell you by there actions what they need.
Your first starting point should not be a specific induction but learning as much about hypnosis as is viable for you right now. I am biased towards one specific induction because it works for me and I am managing the place that teaches it. There are trainers that teach the basics of hypnosis and what to do while on stage as well as the marketing the One Icurrently manage is the Stage Hypnosis Center. As far as I know there is no other resource better than that to learn perform and sell stage hypnosis. Others books and resources I have found of value are Johnathan chases book - deeper and deeper and although it is dated Ormund Mcgills Encyclopedia of Stage Hypnosis There are others out there who focus on "street hypnosis" and their materials are good too for learning hypnosis practices and much of what they do in "street" performance can transfer to stage. ( I do not recomend street because of some personal beliefs but to each their own) I also recommend that you receive live training at some point to help you along the path if this is not possible use whatever resources you have DVD's books and anyone you know doing shows. You did ask a very loaded question and the simple answer is in the original question - the best induction for you is the one that works for you. For me that induction is flexible entertaining and easy to remove or add fractionation, hypnotic phenomena and other things to as needed. I hope this helped Jesse

There is no best, it what you discover that works best for you. That what hypnosis is all about is adapting it to use and needs.

I would say that the best induction is the one that works on the person(s) you're trying to hypnotize! |

Hi Shomemagic,
No induction is better than another, in that it is more likely to hypnotise than another. So 'best' might be defined by other considerations. Length of time? Do you want to do this in a second or 10 minutes? Physical position? Are they seated, standing etc Is it visual to your audience? In other words is it clear something novel has started. Does it provide feedback? Can you tell if the suggestions inherent in the induction are taking hold? Does it leave you with leverage? In other words can you bounce of a variety of responses smoothly. For all of the above reasons my preferred induction is 'Hand to Eye fixation'. Essentially this is a more permissive version of the Bandler style handshake but without the 'pattern interrupt'. You can get the words and the actions from this video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x85prwKYgOQ If you have any questions let me know. Anthony

Hi,
I just watched the videos for Geoff Ronning's EKG Induction. For stage hypnosis I think this may be the best (Unlike Jesse, I am in no way affiliated with the Stage Hypnosis Center. I have, however, bought some things from them and am impressed.) You can purchase the DVDs here: http://www.stagehypnosiscenter.com/products/item158.cfm If you wish to perform in bars and do street hypnosis I suggest that you check out everything written (and recorded) by Anthony Jacquin. You can find his stuff here: http://www.headhacking.com/training Plus, Anthony offers some very fine lessons on YouTube here: http://www.youtube.com/how2hypnotise Best of luck, Scott

Dmkraig,
Sorry dude... I offered an opinion. Didn't realize I had to justify it. I've noticed that some of the guys in the forum are like dogs with a bone between their teeth (my opinion). My observation is that the real gentlemen here are working professionals. Many of the others (certainly not all) are a bunch of !@#$%y women at a sewing circle. dmkraig, want me to justify this opinion? Just read your response... Best wishes, Scott

Of course you're entitled to an opinion Scott, but for the record, I thought dmkraig's questions were reasonable ones and was wondering why you got so defensive.
Attempting to answer the original question: I don't know about best, but I have various "favourite" inductions to call upon, as do many other of the hypnotists I know. On the other hand, there's one UK stage hypnotist I know who has only ever used one induction in the many years he has been working. Personally I think it's best to learn about a few. |

Some people prefer scrambled eggs, others prefer fried. If it's just a situation of "I like it better," fine. But if there's a reason behind your preference, I'd like to know. Thanks. |

After 12 posts you come to that conclusion?
Is asking you why really that big a deal?

Sorry guys, I suppose that my default position is defensive. I was a little put off by the way the question was asked.
Anyway, to answer the question: For more decades than I care to remember I used a PR induction that was pretty much scripted. As I mentioned in my original post, I have not used the EKG induction yet, merely viewed the DVDs and read the accompaning book. What appealed to me was: 1/ It's flexible. This induction takes as long or short as it takes depending on the circumstances (because it's not scripted). 2/ It's entertaining. 3/ There is built in testing. 4/ Deepeners are built in. In short, I watched Geoff perform this on the DVDs and it made a great deal of sense to me. DMkraig, sorry for the outburst. Best, Scott
