Bob Baker and I were Derren's guests at that show/
we heard the story backstage but weren't sure about it. then we went together to eat something and someone else repeat the story. Only then it went on Twitter. by the way. The show is great Derren and Andy are great. The mentalism community is luck to have this team producing live shows for about 11 years Lior

Very poor audience management by Derren.

So glad that y'all are joking about an accident that very nearly killed someone. Bad form.

!@#$%^& toured live for a while. At the show in Dublin one of them dived from a low balcony and body surfed back to the stage. Some idiot in the same balcony shouted that he could do it too, and he jumped from the balcony. But he jumped instead of diving, and he went straight through the crowd, breaking his leg. Luckily that was the extent of his injuries.
The show was a nightmare for the insurers, and as far as I recall it was cancelled twelve shows into the run. Thankfully the man at Derren's show survived uninjured.

Well, not that kind of publicity.
The audience gets wild the second Derren goes on stage. They love him from his TV shows and other shows he did in the past. They give him a standing ovation at the end because it was a great show for them. My remark was for brehaut post about a stoge. Lior

It was really an attempt to make light of some of the people on the Café who believe everything they can't explain is the result of a confederate or stooge. |

While unconnected this story reminded me that in one of Dame Enda Everage's show at Dury Lane theatre in London Dame Edna had a bit in the show where she was threw her trademark Gladiolas into the audience... throwing some towards one of the boxes a man lent out too far to catch one and fell over the balcony but was just caught by another person in the box who was pulled most of the way over the edge of the box by the falling man.
A rope ladder was eventually thrown over the side of the box for the stricken audience members to climb up back into the box.... 'how convenient there happens to be a rope ladder there' said Dame Edna. It was a dramatic, shocking, exciting and then very funny moment in the show.
