Hi, all...What do you all think of this?
A 3 prediction effect. I like it, but it seems a bit pricey? http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/S15646 |

IT does not appear to be any way near a full deck of cards. The only picture cards are at the face and the bottom of the deck. He puts the red card under the blue card before the reveal bu when he takes out the cards from the bills, the red card is now on top and the blue card is underneath the red card. I am pretty sure that the spectators cannot touch the cards prior or after the reveal. Considering the deck and the bills are gimmicked, one can srmise ho it is done. But it still looks like a nice effect.

I think the trick is within the abilities of the average performer and beginning technician - so it should serve its purpose.

I think they could have performed it better on the demo. If you watch closely, you will see the error. During the performance, the red card goes below the blue "prediction" card. However, when revealed, the blue card is below the red card. This error could have been prevented by separating the cards under the bill, placing the bill and cards on the table and removing the bill.
Given this apparent "blooper", I think it gives away the method. Given that, I see no reason for the deck apparently missing all but two face cards. The first two predictions seem like "throw aways", and both of them could go wrong if the participant selects, for example, the very first card, the King of Spades. Finally, apparently there is a gimmicked bill involved. It seems like a lot of special props for one effect. If it had a gimmicked deck with a variety of cards, I think it would be more useful. KJ |

To clarify, my comments are not about whether a layperson would see the "blooper" or not. My comments are about how I don't think the effect is particularly strong, given the way the deck is apparently gimmicked, a bill gimmicked, and the way they are demonstrating it's performance.

I see that Michael pointed out the same thing I did. I guess my difference of opinion is I don't think it is a strong routine given the apparent limitations.

Henry Evans performs this for Dan Harlan and then they chat about it in Dan's 'Backstage" series.
