In the 1980's, I vanished a Rubik's Cube in a Die Box, had it reappear in my hat and then magically solved it using Doug Henning's method that he did on TV. Back then, everyone knew what a Rubik's Cube is. And the trick played very well in my shows.
Today, people my age know what a Rubik's Cube is and have some experience trying to solve one, but what about younger adults and children? The reason I ask is because I'd like to do this effect in my show today, but I don't see how it can be powerful if much of my audience (younger adults and children) don't know what a Rubik's Cube is. |

Still very popular among teens in my neck of the world. Not sure younger audiences have much exposure to them, though.

There have been ~62,000 YouTube posts in the last MONTH about "Rubik's Cube". "Kids" is a big age spread. Little kids can't solve it. (I wouldn't buy one for a little kid.) But they may know about it through older kids / teens (or teens in their friends' homes). Also, I'd bet you my wallet that most "younger adults" know what a Rubik's Cube is.
Plus, the most obvious thing is: The "throw in the air" magic solution is visual even if you don't know the game/puzzle part! The colors are obviously mixed-up on each side. You twist it. It's still mixed-up. You flip it in the air and it's solved/all the same color per side. Magic! Steve H PS: Craig Nichols came up with the solution/product that Doug Henning used on his TV show.
Like Bonnie Raitt said, "I miss Little Feat more than I miss being 8 years old." Thanks for the concerts + recordings, Lowell, Richie, and Paul!

Looking for an opinion......Im changing my babcock yellow die to a rubick cube color look. Would you make it mixed up or solved.......not extending the trick to solve it after it reappears. Just didn't want to deal with someone saying now solve it.

My kids are 6, 8, and 10 and all know what a Rubiks Cube is. I have had Daryl's Enchanted Cube for years and still use it. It is definitely a head turner.
