For preschool shows I have booked this coming Jan/Feb, looking for routines/tricks/resources that have a winter/frosty theme.
Thanks

There's a change bag that exists for a little under 20 bucks I think that is a Santa hat. If you already do a routine with a change bag, that's an easy switch that's well worth it I think. You could throw in some instant snow. More on the Christmassy side, there's the book Holiday Illusions by Paul Osborne which has plans for different illusions, giving a seasonal twist to a lot of classics. I've never read it, but I have friend who makes a lot of his own stuff and got a few ideas out of there. Also, anything you do with silks could use some winter themed silks.

Maybe do a Zombie-Levitation with a big snowflake (ball plus cotton wool?).

Don´t know for sure but I guess "Santa Stuck in the Chimney" from Abbotts Magic could be easily changed into a trick with a snowman.

Here are some snowman effects:

Snowman Visible Colour Painting --> http://www.laflinmagicstore.com/ProductD......ode=MFTS

Dove Pan Snowman --> http://www.peacheykeene.com/seasonal%20props%20cart.html

Frosty's Funny Day (mentalism with snowman's scarf) --> http://www.gigglemagicstore.com/ (click on Crazy Characters)

Forgetful Frosty --> http://fairchildmagic.com/fairchild_magic_023.htm

Jozo Bozo's Mismade Snowman silk set --> http://www.timsonefelt.com/store_product......-snowman

Also, tricks like Spelling Bee can be used for the word "Snowman", because it has 7 letters in it.

Donald - that is exactly the type of stuff I was looking for. Thanks so much!

neemdog - this is for Jan/Feb, so I have to do just wintery, snowman stuff (not Chrsms)

I'm doing some research and hope to get some of my own ideas out here to share.

If you own a traditional Stratosphere, maybe you could substitute the normal balls for white balls (or cover the plastic balls with cotton using a glue stick), mark them up a little with facial features, buttons and shoes, and do a mis-made snowman routine. Otherwise, you could splurge on this trick:

You could also replace the egg in an egg bag routine with a fake snowball. It could even be a white billiard ball.

Of course you would think you could find some Winter themed magic through "Penguin" Magic - just kidding, but couldn't resist! Smile

Dan Garrett sells white spongeballs cut to look like snowballs:

Smoky Mountain Magic sells Frantic Frosty, which is a skeleton in the closet / strat-o-spheres type of trick:

Also, I have changed white silks into snowballs (styrofoam balls) using a crystal silk cylinder. I even slipped a red silk in with the others, and mis-called it a white silk (which then changed to a red snowball mixed in with the white ones). I read the crystal silk cylinder idea in a really old Holiday Magic book that I think was published by Magic Inc.

I like that Frantic Frosty trick Donald. That is exactly what I had in mind with my suggestion. Smoky Mountain is always a bit pricey, but they put out very good quality stuff that is all hand made in their shop and designed to last.

That's a great idea with the stratosphere I will have to try. I have been using it for Christmas shows using different color tree ornaments I got at big lots. Tim Sonnefelt's stuff is always awesome too.

I have a temple screen that I can decorate to make all snowy and produce the dove.

The other side of my skeleton in the closet trick has a ghost which I never use. I may get an artist to paint a snowman over it.

Smokey Mountain magic is always on my wish list.

Great find on the Dan Garrett sponge balls. Just to take my existing sponge ball routine and modify it a little.
