I am pleased to announce that I will be starting and leading a ventriloquism club at my middle school. My principal loved the idea. It will be called "Double Talkers Ventriloquist Club." I plan on teaching the kids a little of the history of vent, lip control, characterization, simple puppet making, manipulation, comedy writing, and performance. This will all culminate in a performance in front of an audience.
I'm really excited about this. I'll keep you all posted. |

Thanks guys! I'll let you know how it goes. Everyone in my school knows that I'm a vent, and they all know my puppets. But I am curious to see how many students will be interested in this club. I hope to get a nice core group. I'm excited about the possibility of introducing young people to our great art.

Puppets and vent are popular at the middle school where I work.
Haven't thought about a club, but I do go into the drama class and do a unit on puppetry every quarter. Just finished the 1st of 4 presentations last hour. We went from clubs to an "advisory" period here at school. Please keep us posted, and thanks for elevating the art of ventriloquism with our youth. Harris

Hi Harris,
That's great that you also introduce vent to middle schoolers. Nice job! Today was club sign-up day, and about 15 students signed up for Double Talkers, more than I had anticipated. I'll certainly keep everyone posted. |

Keith, this is a great idea. We at Vent Haven are always concerned that we have plenty of "newbies" to add to ventriloquism roster. The new kids are our life blood to keep the art alive and well! Good luck, my friend!
