The only time I had a sticking problem was when I recovered the trim on the covers and accidentally bent the can slightly. I was able to take the bend out easily and have not had any other problems. Dave's set is extremely easy to use. Also, it's really nice looking. The two covers (at least on my set) are gold with blue trim and blue with gold trim. After a few years the trim was starting to look a bit raggedly so I got some replacement from a local craft shop. |

Does anyone produce a sponge PB&J Sandwich? I know Goshman makes a sponge "dagwood" sandwich (and several other varieties are available from clown supply stores), but I can't recall ever seeing one that was a PB&J Sandwich. Using a fake sandwich would alleviate allergy worries (unless the kid is allergic to sponges I guess!).

For years I have worked with mine in two ways. First, I spray them with spray silicon (not very often, just once in a while). Then, when I arrive at a show, I put the two covers in a sink filled with HOT water until the show starts, empty them out, and dry them off. This softens up the plastic enough so it works. Another idea I haven't tried yet is to find a solid ring the size of the opening and place this at the top while in storage in my trunk.

We disagree with the 'stupid' look...We have sold dozens of these and they look very professional and are certainly better than the old rubber versions. However, we realize everyone has their own opinion and taste and we certainly respect that.

I did have this issue with the knockoff brand that says "Peanut Butter". I was then fortunate enough to find an original Timothy Wenk version and have been using it for over 3 years now and have not had any issues with them sticking. (thank goodness)
I then had the bright idea to purchase as many as I came across and ended up with 4 sets in a year. I've since whittled back down to the single set I started with as I've found there is no need to own more than one if you have the good ones. Invest in your show and buy the good ones if you can find them you won't regret it. |

I threw away the covers that came with the trick and replaced them with two tubes made out of bristol board/cardboard. The tubes are decorated to look like "magic tubes." This has emliminated all "sticking" problems in the routine.
In presenting the effective, I can now casually pick up the tubes and without reference to it, hold one so that the audience can see right through it. A subtle presentation technique to show the "tubes empty." Our presentation does not involve a volunteer, but is done with both Pat and I, so it is a 2 person routine. It also involves producing a real peanut butter and jelly sandwich from the empty lunch bag. |

I've been abusing a Wenk set for years with no issues. I clean the vinyl with 'Armor All' occasionally.

One of mine sticks too. I tried powder but it didn't work. I then tried armorall but still stuck. I shoved a 2-litter full soda bottle in it and kept it there overnight. I couldn't get the soda bottle out so I emptied the soda and carefully cut the soda bottle to be able to remove it. Now it doesn't stick at all.

Very nice. What a brilliant motivation. Very well thought out. |

Bob, I bought four pieces of foam bread. Two regular, and one painted purple on one side, and the last painted brown on one side. I use these four in a change bag (which I call a "lunch bag") and in this way never have to make a real PB&J sandwich to do the trick.

I'm curious what everyone's favorite method for producing the sandwich at the end of the routine is? I recently put this trick into my kids show and the kids love it. However, I currently do not produce a sandwich at the end. I would like to add a sandwich production, but am not sure the best way to do so. Any recommendations?

I have a Pop Change Bag as well as another regular change bag reserved for other routines in the show. Any other suggestions for making the sandwich appear?
Thanks!

Have the child select 2 slices of plain bread from a bag of Wonder Bread and I put them in a paper sandwich bag which is held by the child. At the end of the trick the 2 slices of bread are a PBJ sandwich.
In truth the sandwich is in the bag and when I "place" the bread in the paper bag I ball it up and palm it back out and dispose of it with the Wonder bread bag. I have the child verify the bread in the paper bag and have them hold it. At the end of the trick they take the sandwich out of the bag and peel it apart to reveal a PBJ sandwich. Have fun!

Thank you Carlo. I will have to practice palming bread. Good suggestion!

Question :
Are the tubes MEANT to be open at the top? I bought this from FAB and never got around to using it because the tops of the tubes are open, so anyone basically not sitting down on the floor can look down into the tubes and see the tops of the peanut butter jars, so it's pretty much unusable for home birthday parties. You can even see the creator of the trick flash the top of the PB jar, he does it when he's showing the jam the first time : http://www.fabmagic.com/pebujafab.html |

The one's that you have are not the Wenk version. They will work but I would suggest buying the wenk version.
