I have a tutorial for Doug Canning's "Mental Shopper" at this address:
http://gmmentalgym.blogspot.com/2010/10/......msmethod

Unfortunately, the site that housed the required PDF file (former address below) is no longer active.
http://members.cox.net/astonishment/files/MentalShopper.pdf

Is there anyone here who may have downloaded the PDF in the past who still has a copy? I'd be grateful if you could send it to me ASAP.

Hi Scott,

Don't have this one, but did find a link where you can get it. You'll need to make your own card sets.

I should be clearer.

The Mental Shopper PDF I'm referring to is a PDF of a business card layout of the items and their prices used in the trick. It's not the PDF describing the trick.

Thanks for the link, anyway, Mark!

Tom Craven has this effect in a set of his lecture notes (New Twists on Old Tricks) that I bought. He gives credit to Doug Canning for it. The notes had pictures of the cards in them and I just made my own on the computer. You could probably do the same.

Just use a business card template in a word processor program (MS Word), type them into the template, load the printer with blank business card stock and print them out. I have a laminator that I use for various things and even laminated a set so they'd last. I also printed them out on 8.5 x 11 paper for stage size performance with my magic club. Worked pretty good for me.

May be a way to solve this for you.

Mark. Smile

When I made up my set some time ago, I decided to put a picture of a shopping list on the backs of the cards.

A seemingly related effect is Larry Becker's "Game Show" from "Stunners Plus". I say "seemingly related" since no mnemonics is used; instead it forces the total though the spectator seemingly has a free choice of objects. I made up a set, updating some of the items and values since time has passed. And I added three versions of one of the cards, so that different totals could be produced for different spectators.
