A lovely effect that gets great reactions. There's a reason why this thread is filled with positive reviews, and they're all very well deserved.

I'm going to get blasted for this.
I just received Envylope, which I purchased on EBay.
Since the price was so low, I emailed the seller, and asked if this was a legal copy or a knockoff.
The seller assured me the item was legal.
After I received it, I realized it was a knockoff. (Seller is from China)
I was quite angry, especially after he lied about it being legal.
I complained to the seller and asked for my money back and he pay for the return shipping.
I also gave negative feedback along with a negative comment.
The seller was begging me to change my feedback and he will give me my money back and I can keep Envylope.
After some email exchanges, I stuck to my guns and did not change my negative feedback.
I told him, I don't want it and I will mail it back but he has to pay for return shipping.
Well, last night I got a phone call from the seller, again asking me to change my negative feedback to positive.
(I don't know how he got my phone number)
He said that the product was made in Taiwan and is therefore legal. He was very difficult to understand.
I told him, it WAS a knockoff.
He said the laws in China are different.
I responded that the copyright laws in China are similar to the laws in the USA.
He then swore up and down that he will never sell knockoffs again if I change my feedback.
I didn't believe him but I changed it from negative to neutral.
I then found that he has 100's of items for sale on EBay and I suspect most if not all are knockoffs.

I now regret changing my feedback but I was caught in a weak moment.
I should have known better about buying from China.
But I thought most items sold in the US is made in China.
By the way, Envylope was so poorly made, that it is virtually unusable.

I hope my experience makes others think twice about buying magic from China.

Hi Magic friends,

After reading this message from Ihop, I presume that I've bought a knock-off too. Smile
Very poor made indeed. And absolutely unusable. everyone will notice directly that this looks not like a normal deck of cards.
The gimmick is very stiff, has cardboard in it, and has a shiny coating on it. I think I could make better the gimmick myself.
a total waste of my money.

So never buy magic from china.

Looks like an awesome effect. Do you have top switch the deck while they sign the card and you are looking away?
When I read this forum I saw that there really aren't that many bad angles. Is that right? Even right after the switch from deck to envelope?
Thanks,

Joost

First question would be a bit too much exposure methinks.

The angle issue is probably only just before the change from deck to envelope and that's only if someone was hung on your shoulder.

After the change there are no angle issues.

This was one of my favourite recent purchases..It's a great little trick.

I'm not really keen on exposing the methodology of an effect and to be honest I don't think it has any bearing on whether it's a good trick or not.

It's highly practical and does exactly what it says on the tin.

Yeah I understand. But it is important to me. I'd rather don't have to switch a deck. But actually you answered my question already. Thanks

If I order this trick from Penguin... will I get the Tyvek version? Is the Tyvek version still being produced by the creator?

I have both and don't notice a huge difference between Tyvek and the other.
I've always felt that too much of an issue was made out of this.
But, I also am not performing them multiple times a night.
So YMMV.

I ordered mine today. It's actually supposed to get here tomorrow which is kind of surprising. I confirmed with Penguin that they are in fact selling the Tyvek version... so I was happy about that.

Really looking forward to performing this trick.

I'm already thinking about where to put it in a little routine. I'm thinking:

Visibill to Envylope to Torn. 3 very visual tricks. All a little bit angle senstive... so in the right setting, it should work well.
