I am sorry to be the bearer of sad news, but I heard that Frances Ireland Marshall died on Sunday, May 26, 2002.
Heart-felt condolences to her husband, Jay Marshall. Frances was a longtime performer, author, magic dealer (Ireland's/Magic Inc.) and all around bearer of good will in the magic world. :( |

I would like to express my appreciation for Frances Ireland Marshall. Her years of chronicling the happenings of magicians first introduced me to a host of names and events that I could only imagine as a kid. Later, when business landed me in Chicago for a month, I made the requisite trip to "mecca," Magic Inc. Frances immediately took a motherly approach and not only made sure that I felt welcome, but immediately invited me to the lecture that was about to start in their back room. That was the start of a memorable stay in the Windy City, and I felt that I had instant family, because of the welcome I received. This was Frances's doing. I have a feeling, with all respect, that Jasper met his match when he married her. This has been a tough year for our Dean of Magic. My warmest feelings and condolences go out to Jay, and to the extended Magic Inc. family.
