I'll be frank, when I drove the motor home, I was the ONLY non-drinker in the bunch. Everyone else was plastered. I would NOT give the wheel of that bus to ANYONE else. A few times, I did feel I was too impaired to drive. I quickly found a place to pull over and sleep. I am thankful the stuff at least let me keep my head about me and tell me, "No, pull over". It would have been dangerous and downright FOOLISH to continue driving. Doug |

Glenn
When a cop pulls me over and see's a sober senior citizen on his way home from a magic or juggling gig he usually apologizes to me and doesn't ask to see my license. I'm a grey haired grand pop who smells like breath mints, and after shave lotion. LOL

Around here a man driving alone in car after midnight equals an easy DUI bust. It is SOP for the local police to stop random cars late on Friday and Saturday night, because most of the people out at that hour have a blood alcohol level high enough for an easy bust. They never expect to find a well dressed sober old man coming home from work.
DUI is big business around here for local police dept., the lawyers, the county court house, all major highways around here have no trash because of DUI convictions, the county prison is booked solid, and they have a sweet deal supplying DUI convicts to local trash truck service. You drive the speed limit after midnight around here if I know what's good for you.

Around here they pull people over all the time right after the bars close. They aren't supposed to stop you just because of the time or just because they feel like it, but the merest pretext will serve the purpose- i.e., "You swerved over the center line," "You were driving erratically," "Your license plate light isn't bright enough," etc. etc.

Lobo-
Technically you are correct, but the federal government has stated it will not sue Washington or Colorado over their newly enacted legalization of marijuana. Thus, I'd argue, that it is de facto legal in those states. |

The Feds have nothing in writing that I heard of. The Police can't pull you over without just cause but they always find just cause when they want to. Same with the Feds. Iven

Stoned drivers may or may not be impaired depending on the individual. But as nearly all of them are only doing about 20mph I fail to see a problem

Perhaps, but that said, if you're driving within a couple of hours after smoking, I think you're a reckless idiot.

In Pennsylvania DUI is big business, the legal profession, the highway department, and trash truck companies are all getting fat on drunk drivers. On Saturday and Sunday mornings around here we have bus loads of DUI criminals picking up trash. Pennsylvania highways are some of the cleanest roads in our country. I do not drink, or leave my house with anything illegal. BTW if I owned a gun I would be one scared to death driver. LOL
