I'm looking for a copper/silver effect in the spectators hand.
Of all the version I have seen so far, I really hate the secret load. I think it looks very suspecious and akward. Even when the great Scotty York did this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pOby--84GwQ Are there any other secret methods out there that look more natural and clean? |

Copper – Silver – With a Dime and a Penny
Effect “That’s a beautiful bracelet. Do you know what it can do?” The woman smiles at the magician and shakes her head. “I’ll show you. Does anyone have a penny and a dime?” Another spectator finds a penny and a dime and the magician takes them and gives them to a third spectator to hold in her closed fist. He then asks that spectator to give one coin back to him. She does and let’s assume it’s the dime. The magician closes his hand over it and then has the woman with the bracelet touch his closed hand and then touch the closed hand of the woman holding the penny and lo and behold the magician now holds the penny and the woman holds the dime. Comments 1 This presentation is the sixth classification of Perverse Magic – the performer explains that something will happen but he doesn’t understand why – here that the bracelet can - and does – something unusual – causing a transposition of two coins. This is more entertaining – in my view – than an attitude that says “Look how great I am!” 2 The effect of course is the standard “copper silver” done with ungimmicked coins – borrowed coins rather than what most people hardly ever see – a half dollar and that foreign copper coin. 3 The effect comes from Roy Benson in New Phoenix number 327 (and see “Roy Benson by Starlight” page 273). Also see John Scarne’s Stars of Magic, Harry Lorayne’s The Magic Book page 172. and Johnny Benzais’ 11c Transpo in Pallbearers page 721. Method (This effect and the method is posted on the Perverse Magic thread of the Genii Forum on October 1, 2007.) |

I have one. It is incredible -- best using the C/S TUC but can be done with an Exp [.
Multi-phase as a Two on Hand, One in Pocket with mixed coins -- greatly enhancing the impact. Then it ends with a Copper and Silver in the spectator's hand. They chose which will vanish. When they open there hand there is NOTHING! Note: many magicians feel that a "vanish to empty" in a spectator's hand is impossible. For them it probably is. PM me if interested.

You can't lose with "Pocket Passport." Just a wonderfully interactive Copper Silver effect and pretty darn easy to do, too.

Digital Copper/Silver by David Roth is also worth a look. You can find it in both The Collected Almanac and Expert Coin Magic.

Did not look to me like any of those spectators were suspicious of anything. It's not a quick/slick looking visual change, but it is dang good magic.
For copper silver, MB has some available. |

There are several on the NYCMS DVD series.
Volume 3: A Trio of Effects (Rubinstein) Four Phase Routine with a Hankerchief (Roth) Volume 4: Fourgone Copper Silver (Rubinstein) Copper Silver Classic (Roth) Fisted (Latta) - Cleanest version EVER Volume 8: The blank Coin Routine (Roth) Volume 9: Copper silver Transposition (York) Volume 10 Fugitive Coins (Roth) - not c/s, but a size transposition Stealth Copper Silver Transposition (Rubinstein) - my favorite for when the spectator is sitting down. No, not sure of the routine you mention. But I made a gaff in my list. On volume 13, my copper silver transposition does not occur in the spectator's hand. Instead, Scott Robinson's In the Hand CopSilBrass uses TWO spectators, and does a transposition with each person. Very clean, and it will fool you!

I'll give a second shout for pocket passport. It plays much bigger than I expected. I also like " an odd coin transit" from CoinMagic.

I will also make available "Untouched" to those who ask and commit.
A Copper Coin is held by one spectator and a Silver Coin by another. You NEVER touch either coin before, during or after the effect! Yet, these two coins change places in their hands. No Gaffs, of course. Any two coins of approximately the same size can be used. Also -- for the faint of heart -- the spectator cannot mess things up by opening their hand early. They attest as to which coin they hold -- then 'Shazam" they change places.

With gaffs I'd recommend the copper silver taught in Eric Jone's Metal 3 or Digital Dissolve by Theory11 (with gaff by schoolcraft)

@ Michael Rubinstein - In Roth's Lesson on Copper/Silver do you recall if that was using Nate Leipzig's handling? My DVD set is not here and I'm curious...

Fugitive Coins (Roth) - not c/s, but a size transposition. This is a killer routine. It fools the minds as well as the eyes! Doesn't get any better than this!
