Hey guys. For a little while I have been looking at Carl Cloutier's third hand magic and got interested in topit. I remember finding a site that had instructions of making a topit for free. Could someone tell me if they know any site that teaches how to make a topit.

You'll get a much better product and instruction if you buy one. Michael Ammar has a topit pattern available for $18. You get what you pay for.

You have to wear a suit jacket for a topit, right?

Yes, unless you got the TKO or Silent Butler/Workeroo route. Each has their pros and cons.

I would encourage you to get Peter Pitchford's topit. It comes with an instructional DVD that is worth it's weight in gold. I think it's about $30 for both. I think it is the best work I have seen on the topit if you don't want to throw.
This topit is very similar to the Ammar style topit. It is made from black fabric and has an added benefit that it creates 2 separate pockets so you could for example vanish a Silver Dollar and then vanish a jumbo coin and not have a sound from them bumping together. |

You can purchase the Michael Ammar Topit pattern and install them in all your jackets. http://www.ammarmagic.com/topitpattern.html Or you can buy the original designed Topit, it is not the same design, but works almost as good a the Michael Ammar version. http://www.abbottmagic.com/Abbotts-Topit......oryId=-1 |

Sylvester the Jester has a KILLER item that is coatless. Nielsen may still sell the Fred Kaps Necktie topit.

Consider my curiosity piqued, Pete... do you have a link for Sylvester's product (if available)?

Ekuth, I do not see it on his product page:
http://www.sylvesterthejester.com/merch.html It was a very long time ago that this was put out on the market, so it may no longer be available. |

Ekuth, I believe Pete is referring to Sylvester's Suspended Dimension. Here's a short demo video here...

Ahhhhhh.... thank you, Mark! The DVD is listed on his site, but from the demo vid there I can see where this could definitely cause your audience to suspend their disbelief. *grin*
Thanks, Bill and Mark (and Pete!) I do believe I'll pick up that DVD. In the climate I work in, this would definitely be handy to have.

Wow, this was the first time I saw Sylvester the Jester's Suspended dimension, and I must say that that is brilliant!

Ramon Galindo had a classy Toppit that worked in a closed jacket. (Even in a three-piece suit)
I do not know if is still available. |

Senior Galindo's topit or a variation is described in the Bob Fitch Topit Workshop DVD's. They are a must have for anyone planning to do topit work. I think that and Peter Pitchford's Static Hand Topiting DVD are the best resources on the subject, if you don't want to look like you are throwing stuff into your coat.
