I took the plunge, watched the video, made the deck. Really like the thinking here, very smart. Only one point stands out for me though, and I'd be curious what others thought...and that is, having to shuffle the deck face up. It's odd looking to me. It's the big thing that stood out to me when first watching the video. If you have the spec shuffle, you have to have them shuffle face up. No one I know shuffles a deck of cards face-up. Thoughts?

A little patter about wanting to show everyone that the cards are mixed justifies the face-up shuffle + spread, and after a couple of those I can't imagine anyone suspecting the deck isn't random. |

I haven't experimented with it but it seems like if you made the deck differently (red cards instead of black)you could shuffle the cards face down.

I have a question...
with this deck, can you have someone think of a card, and pull it out, and you know what it is? thanks alex

You can, as Docc says do an overhand shuffle face down to start off. Then do a face up table riffle shuffle afterwards, half pushing there cards together, ribbon spreading the deck to show the cards face up seals the deal that the cards are actually mixed. :-D

This has got to be the most true/false shuffle I have ever seen. I haven't been able to put the deck down since I made the S.D up, so so clever.

Docc knows that I am a big fan of him and his products (btw still waiting an answer about the avilability of the wizard manual....) but its surprising that on this thread none mentioned that this effect have been released 8 years ago by Titanas.
But I am sure that, as both of them are great people, they will find the way to make the things clear for everybody. http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......&start=0

Interesting... had it been the other way around I'd be willing to bet it would have been a big deal.

I have this, it's great. I am a big fan of Docc's work and this is top stuff.
This would work great with getting to know you (Anyone that has my dvd will know that routine). This is good for many reasons, most should be very obvious. The last thing to think about is the shuffle (although that is a beautiful compliment), think about the clever framing that comes with this and the way Docc has focused on certain subtleties to be able to accurately give a close up Q+A using this lovely deck. I watched the video and have a way that I could use this deck (which is probably backwards to how most would) to create a stunning piece of emotional mentalism. Ideas are flowing! Pete x |

Thanks my friends,
FTR... This is NOT like the Titanic deck. They both use a similar property, that's all. A 1959 Cadillac and a fish both have fins. Using the property with "your favorite stack" is missing 80% of what it's about. I'll explain in great detail in the follow-up call. And I've never seen much similar between a MD and, say 8Kings. A hammer and a screwdriver are both tools. Last, ...changing the reds for the blacks does ONLY that. Changes the colors. Shuffling FU is only unnatural to magicians and 21 dealers. I've handed this to probably 1000 spectaotrs and they always like watching the different cards go by. 50% of spectators shuffle FU. If it's a personal preference, you can overhand shuffle FD. As always, take it out of the kitchen for a drive in the real world and it will be even better than you're imagining. Keep in mind, I don't release items until EVERY possible aspect has been checked. This was in my file when Peyton was born in 1995! Believe me, I've experiemnted for years on this. I need something that requires NO THOUGHT AT ALL when performing, because I want to enjoy the time on stage. SD is as simple as it will ever get. GREAT thought, Pete! Glad you all like it. Thanks again, I appreciate all the thinking. Docc |

Dear Docc,
I am trying to be totally cool with it, I know most people wouldn't have been cool but please don't push it by saying things like "this is not like the titanic deck" etc Both of the decks share the exact same principles with the difference that the Titanic Deck comes with a massive amount of effects and it came 8 years ago. I said on the other thread that I am cool with your release.... and I am sure if it was the other way around people would have crossify me (it has happened already so many times) All the best, Titanas

Let me add a little something: If you are a MD deck user you could leave the red/black a. s. o. order; just do "it" to the e. g. cards with even stack numbers ... Besides that the deck looks great face up, also the rest is getting extremely easy... Jan

As a Titanic Deck owner I am puzzled.

On 2013-09-23 20:50, Docc Hilford claimed: Docc, so you're saying if I looked at your deck I'd notice a notable difference to the Titanic Deck? If so, was that difference presentation- resp. effect-wise or from a constructional POV? By now, I have to believe what Maddy posted but I am more than open for rectifications.
