I was surprised that his list of credits is so remarkably short. He was certainly one of the most prominent actors out there, and his characters indelible.

He did a bunch of New York theater acting--most famously, he and Pacino broke out to public attention in an Off-Broadway play, The Indian Wants the Bronx by Israel Horovitz (one of the Beastie Boys's father).

Wasn't he married to Meryl Streep or something?
BTW one of those films that was up for Best Picture, The Conversation", is a very underrated film that was mostly overshadowed by "The Godfather Part II". Well worth watching if you haven't seen it, or haven't seen it in a while. |
