Oh, I see where you're coming from now. I'd never recommend BTP to a _complete_ beginner. I'd recommend Royal Road to Card Magic or Card Collage so that they learn to think about what they're doing...

Because if someone's a complete beginner they won't learn what they need to learn from watching a DVD or a video. I'm trying to work in the spirit of "magicians helping magicians" and not just spoon feed someone what they want to eat.
Videos work very well for someone who is already grounded in their understanding of how their own hands work and just want to learn new material. That's why the ETMCM are so good. If you have a basic skill set you can learn some very good magic in a short time. But if you need to develop basic skills tat is best learned from books because books AREN'T easy. They require that you THINK about what you're doing and understand it on a deeper level than what is possible by simply processing visual cues. Visual mediums are easier on the student because they are passive/active. You can process them on a very casual level and feel you've "gotten it". Books are active/active and force the student to a more complete and PERSONAL understanding. |

I've Kard Klub and BTP and would reccomend you BTP because teaches about 20 or so tricks including many different sleights!
where as Kard Klub only talks on 2 CM and a few sleights which he taught on his other dvds so basically repeats most of the sleights.. |

Kard Klub is great in what it deals with but what it deals with is very limited. A great purchase if you want to perfect your 2CM though
