Hey guys
here is my short review of this new shift product: I received two paperclips. the setup is easy. a download link for the explanation is provided. nothing is explained, how to get into the effect and how to store the clip before performance. the paperclip, after the setup, will immediatly begin to bend back, no matter how long you c++l them. honestly, I never ever saw a metal, that reacts so fast. that said, it's not possible to put the clip on a table and leave it there for just a second. I really can not see any possibility, to perform this effect in real Life. the metal is way to much sensitive. would I ever perform this? no, definetly not. is it worth the price? I don't know to be honest. it's nice to play around with it but it's not more then a little toy imo. hope this helps:)

Rasmus - is there a chance that you were using a normal paperclip, and you were just using real psychic powers to bend it?

Very disappointing -- had hoped for this. Thanks Rasmus truly appreciated.

That's to bad as the idea is great but after watching the video, it seems misleading if it just starts to go back to its original position right away. This makes me question ellusionist as a company, unless the one you got was somewhat of a dud. Thanks for sharing rasmus,
Darren

They have the effect backward as well. It should go from regular paperclip shape to bent paperclip. As it is the paperclip is bent and goes back to regular.

I actually love that it returns to normal shape, that is a wonderful touch in my opinion. However, I went through two different shift forks when they first came out and dealt with the exact same issues Rasmus is talking about. As soon as I would set the fork, it would start warping almost immediately. And this was with it sitting on a cool table, in a 64 degree temperature house. Even putting it in the fridge didn't help.
I realllllyyyy want to pull the trigger on this but I almost wish Ellusionist would just send me one to play with first so I'm not out money if it doesn't work, as in my previous two experiences. Sad day.

Immediately?! That is not good...

Is anyone else having similar problems? Is anyone really pleased with the paperclip? I'm confused as to how it seems like some of them work and some of them don't.

it's nice to play Pity. Exactly like Shift Key. Looks like a thin cheap toy key, can't be passed off as a real house key. Should have pressed it into a locker key shape. Sounds like another "public beta". I love some of the products I have purchased from them but the "Shift" line has been disappointing so far. . |

If there is one professional self bending item on the market, it is from yves doumergue.
I bought one of the first years back and it is so strong, that no one can bend it back. I spent over 500 dollars for it. here is a link but it says, out of stock: http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/S9251

Any more reviews? I trust Rasmus. I'm just hoping that someone is having better luck with the speed of the warp that it isn't so fast...

I have it and it is very sensitive. I cannot see how you would be able to set the paper clip in the starting position without it starting to change. As soon as I hold it even with my fingertips it starts to change. Not practical in my opinion. IT omes wit two gimmicks. Perhaps I will try it with the other gimmick to see if it works differently.

Any difference with this ITEM? http://www.grand-illusions.com/acatalog/......lip.html
I purchase the paper clips from Grand-illusions two years ago and work great. |

@Phillipe - don't you have to activate the grand-illusions one with hot water? are you saying you can do it in the hands?

My own personal review: I think is useless and a waste of Money.
We are doing a mentalism magic show and this routine was part of it. We had to eliminate it from the acts as it is very unreliable (some paper clips will go back to shape and others wont even move. It is extremely pricy for what it is. |
